eric bedard?
hey everyone now that the mariners have fallen so far out of contention and their GM bill bavasi has been fired and today john McLaren has been fired, eric bedard is most likely on the trading block and i think that the rays should consider trying to trade for him and it wont be a rent a player type of deal since bedard cant become a free agent until after the 2009 season and i would do this deal for jeff niemann, jeremy hellickson and edwin jackson since they were interested in him early this offseason. i think that this could be enough for a deal to get done to get bedard and our rotation the rest of the year would be pretty good with sonny as the 5th starter where i think he would be better suited and have the rotation be kaz, shields, bedard, garza, and sonny. that rotation could bring some consistency to the rotation and the only weakspot in the rotation is whether or not sonny will pitch good or not. also jason stark says that the mariners are just about willing to give up anyone on their roster not named jj putz, ichiro, king felix and he forgot to mention brandon morrow who i dont think they would trade either

ya i dont either but we have a huge surplus of pitching and so one has to go
he is the one that is going to be probably the last to make it to the majors and by then we most likely wont have a spot for him since davis, mcgee and price will all be in the bigs before he reaches AAA

Isn't Sonny already the 5th starter???
and how would he be better suited as a 5? Rotations are so jumbled around that its not like he is consistenly facing off against the other teams #4 instead of their #5.
I also say no thanks….plus I would think they would want davis or mcgee instead

i would do mcgee not davis though
ya but you never know what your going to get from the last 2 in the rotation in e-jax and sonny and sonny was lucky yesterday that zambrano didnt bring his A game

Exactly what we need
Lefty who’s a lock to get injured after 100 pitches.

No.
“I asked Bavasi on Monday about Bedard’s pitch-count threshold. After bouncing between defending and explaining Bedard, the axed GM — clearly exasperated — said I needed to ask the pitcher.
“You gotta ask him,” Bavasi said. “You gotta ask him. Good luck. And he’s gonna have some stupid answer, some dumbass answer.”“
