Re-writing History, The Rays Way
Tonight's game was record-breaking, to say the least.
-This 43rd win surpasses the former record of most wins(42, in 2004 when we won 70 games) going into the All-Star Game. We didn't reach 43 wins last year until August.
-First time that we've ever been 14 games over .500, breaking the old record of most games over .500.
-With tonight's sweep of the Cubs, it's the most series sweeps of 3 or more games ever in Rays History.
-First time all season that the Cubs have lost 3 consecutive games(remember this, Cubs fans)
-2nd Career Grand Slam by Carl Crawford(1st was Vs. Mike Myers and the Yankees)
-Most facetime that the Rays have been featured on Baseball Tonight on ESPN(hahaha, I had to).

I would like to point out
that the Rays have swept every first place team they have played: Red Sox, White Sox, Angels, Cubs

Very impressive
And it generally lends credence to the notion that we are for real.

The Rays have played by far the hardest schedule
Unfortunately it looks like our schedule isn’t going to get any easier overall. But we do have the Astros, Pirates and Royals coming up. We need to take 7 of 9 of those games.

Hopefully the trading deadline will thin some of our opponents
I could see the Blue Jays, Orioles, Tigers, Mariners, and Indians all becoming easier opponents to beat a few weeks from now.

I thought we lost the 1st game, and took the next 3 from the White Sox

Yes
We took three of four from the White Sox and the Yankees
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

Actually
I think I erred. I think we took 3 of 4 from the White Sox, although we did sweep each of the others. It does not alter the point.

Face time is nice on Baseball Tonight
but it seems like every night after they mention the Rays they have to make some comment about the attendance and how the Rays need to find a nation. The schtick is getting old. The fans are coming out more, and will continue to do so.

That slam was so f'in nice
and it might be great to get a sweep, but its 10x better doing it against the Cubs.

Most fun I've had as a fan in my life...
Our seats were right up against the Power Alley Pub wall and almost everyone around us were Cub fans. Thankfully I went with 7 diehard, loud Rays fans. We began ripping on this dirty obnoxious old man who had a Cubs jersey OVER his Rays shirt. We began chanting “TWO-SIE” and he started challenging us to a fight, etc, etc. Alas, once Crawford hit his grand slam he was nowhere to be found.
There was also this entire row of Cubs fans in front of us and one of them told me they were going to the Astros game on Saturday but would be rooting for the Rays. They also told me they’d never lived in Chicago. Uh, yeah, whatever. I truly felt like a visitor in my own stadium!!!!
Regardless, it was a truly magical night that I will remember for quite some time.
