6/28: RAYS (48-31) at PIT (37-42)
Tampa Bay Rays @ Pittsburgh Pirates
You know who's open to the whole changing positions/lineup slots for the good of the team thing? B.J. Upton. He's batting leadoff tonight and Marc Lancaster provided this quote from Upton:
Joe Maddon approached Upton last night about moving up to the top of the order and “it was a pretty quick answer for me,” said the center fielder.
But he's not a team leader or anything like that, nope.

Just for fun...
The run expectancy says that the Rays were in a worst position after the out than they were before. But of course that would be true.
Runners on 2,3 and 0 outs gives a run expectancy of 2.03
Runner on 3 and 1 out gives an expectancy of .97
So basically Longo changed the run expectancy by only .06 runs (considering the run scored). with his out. That has to be the smallest dropoff after an out possible.

Once interleague play stops....
they should go back to losing. Heard on the radio that the AL is something like 140-80 and has really been on a tear the last couple days.
Overall it’s a .617 winning pct.

There’s an injury delay after a single “deflected by pitcher Jon Lester”

They just recalled Van Benschoten and TJ Beam. Jason Hammel looks pretty darn good in comparison. Heck, Gary Glover looks good in comparison. Even Dewon Brazelton could get a call from this team, if anyone knew where he was.
In the meantime, Taubenheim is suddenly unhittable.
Longlorious.
