6/30: BOS (50-34) at RAYS (49-32)
Boston @ Tampa Bay
We all know how fun this series could get, but as I've said before, take the rest of the day and just appreciate the fact that tomorrow is July and we could still see this:

Guesses on tonight's attendance?
Sorry, hit the wrong key there.
I know Monday is usually a bit light there, but a shot at 35K?
And what’s the record for a Monday game at the Trop?
by nyyfaninlaaland on Jun 30, 2008 4:13 PM EDT 0 recs
I would say strong chance at 35k.
Boom. Outta Here.

can the Trop even hold that many?

Not if you cram a thousand people into each dugout!

Yes
But they’d have to take the tarp off those top seats that they never use anymore. The Trop is architectually capable of holding over 41,000 people.

Yeah I hate the tarp
why is it even there? Games like tonight they could take it off and sell more tickets which means more money.

Perhaps they're restricting supply to increase prices?
They are a monopoly, after all. That’s what I’d do.

But the demand for games like tonight
is pretty high. Not saying for every game but for the big ones like this.

Front offices doing weird things that don't entirely make sense?
What is this, the Mariners??

They tried this
The first year the Rays did prime game pricing, the seats up there were opened up for prime games, but they stopped doing it because even with prime attendance, they weren’t getting close to full. Even now, unless they sell the game out, it doesn’t make sense to open up those seats; and sellouts at the Trop are usually a result of walk-ups, and can only be anticipated an hour or two in advance.

Should be to reduce costs more than increase prices.
With nobody sitting there it’s fewer ushers to hire, fewer walking vendors, etc. They probably save more money by not hiring people to work up there than they lose for having those tickets available.

We decided that we were totally OK with the season ending today
Too bad it doesn’t work that way… we’d all be happy – you guys win the East and we get Strasburg!

Well I'm heading out to the game now
Going to go get my special free parking spot and get to Fergs. I wasn’t planning on being a rowdy guy that talks shit to Red Sox posers but I think it is going to happen. I have a major school project plus work tomorrow so I can’t get too drunk. But seriously screw it. We are in first place playing the Red Sox. I’m bringing some batteries to chuck at JD Drew.

He has made some good contact….just missing on some pitches, and hitting some At’em balls
