Well, this sucks.
Ruggiano better play this time up, otherwise we could’ve placed Dan Johnson on the roster and had him take over at first.

I like the call-up of Ruggiano because this should mean Hinske taking 1B and more playing time for Gross, probably a strict platoon with Ruggiano. Since the Rays are unable to find consistent playing time for Hinske, Floyd, and Gross all at once with the normal configuration this allows them to do so for a bit; bringing up Johnson would just muddle things further.

So, he breaks his finger, then proceeds to double and homer in his next two ABs? And we put him on the DL?
Where’s Jonny Gomes? I’ve got a hammer I’d like to use to shake his hand with.

Jonny Gomes can break concrete with his bare hands.

This hurts some. I know Pena has gotten a lot of crap from some for his offense this season but he still has a .272 EqA (MLB average for 1B is .278) thanks to his patience and power. Combined with good defense at first and whatever credit you think intangibles deserve and he was probably a player of average production despite the very low BA. The only positive is that maybe this time off can give him a break to get his swing totally back in line, it looked like he had fixed it all last week but then had a string of terrible games. Hopefully he’ll be productive again on a more permanent basis once he’s back.

the man has saved at least 5-10 errors just by himself. this is bad news for us. CC better heal up quick, and Pena better be ready in 15 days.

Willy Mays Aikens that is. He’d be able to replace some of the chemistry lost in the dugout while Pena is on the DL.

“Where is the sun today?” Carlos said in a cold voice.
“It’s okay Carlos, they’ll be back” Joe spoke kindly as he gave Carlos a pat on the back.

Don’t you concentrate more with pain, amybe this was good for Pena, shoulda kept him from the DL.. Hinske should be full time 1b and Ruggiano should be full time RF end of discussion. Then when Pena returns, trade Hinske or Gomes
