City Council Moves Rays Proposal Forward by 7-1 Vote
The St. Petersburg City Council has moved the Rays proposal to build a new $450 million waterfront stadium on the site of Al Lang Field forward with a 7-1 vote. The only council member to vote 'No' was Herb Polson. The vote was the first of three the council must cast to place the proposal on the November ballot. The next vote is scheduled for July 17th.
I'll post more stadium news a bit later on.

Good first step
Glad that stupid Nurse referendum was shot down too. We now have 6 months to gather momentum to vote it through. I’m just happy my pro-stadium signs haven’t been stolen in 4 days!

Long story short...
My brother-in-law saw some woman grab his “Pro-Stadium” sign and walk off with it. He grabbed his cell and called the police and followed her. When the police stopped her and questioned her they found out that she’s a LAW PROFESSOR AT STETSON! WTF! How stupid can you get?
He did not press charges but it’s amazing how even the most educated people behave when someone has an opinion different than theirs.

He should have pressed charges
I feel there is even less excuse for someone so educated. She has no business teaching the law…period.

I would think she learned her lesson.
Besides, it’s not worth ruining someone’s life over a $3 sign.

Yeah
Something she should have thought of before she took it. No sympathy for thieves. Especially ones who decided to be held to a higher standard with their career choices.

At a minimum
He should file a Bar complaint. Having graduated law school myself, and waiting on admission to the Bar, this type of behavior makes me sick. People like this make the rest of us look bad.

I agree
I would at least bring this to the attention of those whom this individual associates with.

Link doesn't work.
See if you can grab the right one and I’ll forward it to my brother-in-law.

That's absurd, and mostly petty
I can’t believe how many of our “respected city elites” are acting like buffoons over this stadium matter. Unbelievable.

I'm not surprised by anything the anti-stadium people do at this point...
From the berating I received on line at St. Pete City Hall a couple weeks ago, to the fact that I’ve had to replace my signs 5 times in 5 weeks, this type of behavior is just something I’ve come to expect. In fact, twice the whole neighborhood has had to replace their blue signs.
FYI – My neighbor’s red sign has not been touched since he put it up over 2 months ago.
