Not sure why Upton is at DH

doenst make a lot of sense to me, unless he is hurt or being punished for something he did wrong in the field

Seems to me that putting him at DH only makes our team worse

Maddon

is intent on resting players whenever possible. It does not make a team worse to rest players or use the whole roster; on the contrary, it makes the team better even if in a particular game it might appear to weaken the lineup. They are all major leaguers and can contribute on any given day, so the point is to keep everyone at top shape for the long haul. Maddon is strengthening the team.

What surprised me is that he has Ruggiano in CF and Gross in RF rather than the reverse.

I have a lot of confidence in Ruggiano. I think he will add an important aspect to the lineup. Frankly he will get on base more than what we are used to.
