And David Price wins again!
David Price continues to roll. He picked up his second win tonight, first in his new home stadium up there. The Montgomery newspaper has on their blog that Price let up five hits over six innings, walked two and struck out five.
Not lights out...but still Price continues his march to 2009. What you have to like about this guy is that he just wins at every level. He's like Longoria who just seems to win where ever he went from college up the ladder.

after he got hurt I thought there was no chance
Id see Price in Durham this year but i am starting to think there is a pretty good chance of it now.
Could we see him in Durham after five AA starts?
If he might be there by the third week of July.

Haven't I heard that hitters in AAA and AA are about the same quality?
I know of other pitchers who’ve made that jump, AA to MLB, but I can’t remember any big names.

The talent level is the same...
But the AAA hitters have better approach’s at the plate. You’ll find a lot of AAAA players there that know how to play the game. If Price continues to be successful, there is no reason he should be promoted quickly. If they want him to appear out of the pen, I would mind him getting 5-7 more starts in the minors, then 2 weeks in the minors out of the pen so he can become acclimated to it for a postseason run.
For what its worth

no as a reliever!
they need him as a starter to replace edwin!
No reason to rush him to MLB
They were patient with Longoria, even though he moved through the minors about as quickly as one can reasonably expect. It’s paid off.
We have a nasty Top 3 in our rotation, and frankly most teams would love to have #4 and #5 guys like Sonnanstine and Jackson. Price will be a tremendous addition to the rotation when ready.
But our main need right now is more run production. Not more pitching. Which is why I balk at ideas of trading for an established starter before the trade deadline. We don’t need another starter.
The run production could be fixed overnight if BJ’s found his power, or CC had more than 2 or 3 good games in a row. It wouldn’t hurt if Pena hit .270 the rest of the way and bashed 15 HR’s. But until that happens, we are going to continue to eek out wins even when our pitchers hold the opposition to 1 or 2 runs.
If we do trade before the deadline
I’d like to see a big bat in Right Field or at DH. But I don’t think we have a desperate need, so I’d prefer to keep all of our prospects unless something really special comes up.
