Any interest in Milton Bradley?
I hope I'm posting in the right area, I apoligize in advance if i don't :D.
There's been a lot of talk about Nady, McClouth, Holliday. I do remember reading that the Rangers might be shopping Bradley as well. He's someone we could plug into the field/DH if need be, and would be a big upgrade over Floyd AND Gross. I realize his Slug is a bit high due to playing at rangers stadium, but his OBP remains fairly constant. His OBP is .481 home and .404 away. Gross tops out at about .360 at home and floyd is about .380 at home. What would it take to get him? Sonny? EJax? A major league ready minorleaguer (due to how crappy thier pitching is).
(Avg, OBP, Slug, OPS)
Milton Bradley
vs. Left .333 .473 .713 1.186
vs. Right .308 .423 .560 0.983
Gabe Gross
vs. Left .148 .207 .333 0.540
vs. Right .236 .351 .408 0.759
Cliff Floyd
vs. Left .167 .286 .333 .619
vs. Right .270 .356 .452 .808
Neither floyd or Gross can hit left handed pitching, and Bradley hits Left better then right, and he's a switch hitter. He's injury prone, but the rangers have kept him out of the outfield for the most part and it's seemed to work out well. He's young and probably someone we could lock up for 3-4 years.

He's a whackjob, but damn talented.
Who blows an ACL arguing with an umpire? All in all, I’d love him in RF for us.
bradley is not going anywhere jerry crasnick said on the hotlist today, as teams have asked for him and they say they arent interested in trading him
since they are still in it, but come around the dealine if they are 10 games out and dont believe they can resign him then i think he gets moved.
everything here in Dallas basicly says that crasnick doesnt have a clue
Texas will be 8 1/2 out from LAAA and 6.5 from the WC.
Texas is just trying to drive up the price some, which i cant really blame them
ya thats true, if i was texas i would cash him in for some pitching prospects
they always will have that offense and if they ever get some decent pitching which they could get for bradley, i mean this team could become something special with pitching but you probably have heard that for years
yeah there's interest,
but Bradley is having a career year, and the rangers are above .500, i doubt they all out sell.
Not in a position to say no
Despite his flaws, which in my opinion are greatly overblown.

Where are all these rumors coming from....
No way is Texas trading Bradley. It would take an arm and a leg to get Bradley or Hamilton from thier grips
Mound Visit
I'm referring to an mlbtr post...
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/06/perrottos-lates.html
but the last talk of him was back in late june, almost a month ago. Talking about rangers selling on him if they fall back too much more. Aparently he’s signed to a 1 year deal.
Joe Sheehan mentioned Bradley in his trade target article today
And I think he’d be awesome for the Rays. Texas needs pitching so we’ve got what they want. Bradley’s only signed for this year, so the Rangers should certainly cash him in. The Rays probably shouldn’t sign him long term considering his injuries and probably cost, though.
By the way, there was not one single mention of the Rays in Sheehan’s BPro article, even though he discussed a bunch of outfield targets. Lame.
also, i'd play bradley in the outfield, not at DH
he’s a good defender and it’s worth the risk to keep Hinske/etc off the field
He might be able to play in the field next year
He’s still too close to his ACL surgery to take the risk this year though. Those things usually take 12-18 months to heal and another 6-12 to fully recover to full durability. The Rays could make plenty good use of him as a DH (if he’s available and doesn’t cost a first-born to get)
there was not one single mention of the Rays in Sheehan’s BPro article
I noticed that too. Very odd.
Longlorious.
Free Kila Kaaihue!
Yes yes yes
Absolutely. Stick him at DH and he makes both Floyd and Gomes superfluous. Massive upgrade for the stretch run. Not sure what the Rangers would be asking for though. The problem is that this team has too many great prospects and not enough high upside prospects with flame potential. If they’d be willing to trade Bradley for Barnese, I’d pull the trigger.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
I would love Bradley
but I don’t know if he’s the kind of guy the FO is going to go after. Guys with his kind of talent don’t get moved around that much unless they have serious character issues.
Or other issues
It’s not like Bradley has ever been that good before last year. He was always injured or underachieving.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Would be a good pickup.....
But if attitude isn’t an issue then we should just sign Barry…won’t cost us any prospects. Play Gross as a platoon with maybe Ruggiano and use Barry as DH.

Not even in the slightest
Bradley has a short fuse, no doubt, but there is a BIG difference between someone who will stand up to fight a grown man at the drop of a hat, and a man who habitually takes advantage of, and abuses women.
Bradley’s issues come from a lack of self-control, and can be easily handled with the right amount of counseling and/or medication. Dukes’ issues come from a deep seeded inferiority complex, and will likely follow him for the rest of his life.

Notice we don't have the MLB incident where Dukes best up on a grown man
Because he’s too much of a pu$$y at heart to stand up to someone his own size

I figured that was because he wasn't around long enough.
Plus Delmon was his bag boy.

Domestic Violence is a completely different ballgame
Than anger issues. Anger issues come from a lack of control. People who abuse women have TONS of self control…they just don’t give a sh*t about the feelings/needs of other people, and are inherently more dangerous for that reason.

Bradley is nowhere near as hard to get as Hamilton would be
Bradley is a journeyman FA signing by a mediocre team trying to build. Perfect oppourtunity to flip this short term investment for big gains.
Some guys I like, in order from who Id want most to least…
Milton Bradley
Xavier Nady
Jason Bay
Michael Cuddyer
Casey Blake
Austin Kearns
Bradley
Has always been highly thought of by his talent on the field. He is not some career underachiever, like Muike Cameron, as much as he just hasn’t kept himself on the field and 90% of the time it is due to eithe rinjury or his attitude/anger problems.
This is certainly a career year for him, but then again he is keeping himself on the field
Bradley has never been thought of as a cancer to a locker room. It has always been that he has been more of a distraction, because of frequent flare ups towards uimpires, opposing players and fans. That being said, this can be just as harmful to a locker room as a guy who is fighting with teammates, not taking coaching, etc etc. Which is why teams have cut ties with the highly talented Bradley in the past for no compensation.
I like Bradley as a player, but Ive never been a particularly big fan of him. Alll I know is he has cleaned up his act since joining San Diego and now Texas. The incident with the umpire last year was widely recognized as an error on the part of the umpire which is why he was suspended.
Milton Bradley’s coaches and teammates always love Milton Bradley, so I say bring him in. He destroys lefties, and everything else
Bonds is a Lefty, we dont need ANY MORE LEFTIES. You will only see a righty bat added, we have no need/use for a lefty bat
When has Gomes had flare ups with fans/umpires?
And the only times he’s been involved in fights with players, it’s been to stick up for a teammate. Has he EVER even charged the mound?

What about him wanting...
to beat up the Royals color commentator about a month ago????.... Then after being physically restrained he said he “just wanted to introduce himself”...Yeah his foot in that guys ass!!! Great talent but a total headcase and too injury prone. Never tear your ACL getting taken out by Bud Black..lol

You nor anyone minus Milton Bradley has any idea what he was going to do.
The umpire fiasco last year was warranted. No man should say what that ump did to Milton.
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 19, 2008 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions
the priority is NOT a right bat, per se. it's someone who can crush left-handed pitching
Bonds produces against lefties better than almost anyone else, even righties. He’s a fine solution to hitting lefties.
a total headcase
again, that was an “off the field/outside the locker room” issue. I didnt say Bradley was a saint, but I just wanted to make it clear that he IS considered a great teammate
The Royals commentator was in the wrong. How would you feel if you were having a career year, and doing nothing but good things on and off the field and some yahoo who has NEVER EVEN MET YOU starts bad talking you in front of a huge audience? Not condoning Bradley’s reaction, but I can’t say he was wrong for being upset
The guy has picked up a terrible reputation to the media and umpires, and he is blackballed by them. They do everything they can to throw his name in the mud, and umpires hate him now and have a quick trigger finger with him. He’s like the Rasheed Wallace of MLB, and anytime he is treated unjustly he is just seen as the boy who cried wolf
The only reason I’m able to overlook his off field distractions and say bring him in, is because if you look at his career the past 2-3 years he has been a lot more managable on a baseball team
Bonds produces against lefties
Bonds hasnt played MLB in almost a year. what planet are you on? He is not coming here, and apparently he isnt even getting a look from any other team either. And their are plenty of teams far more depserate than us
Give me a power RH bat in his 20s who can still run around in the OF
