Fresh off of one of the quicker No. 1 overall pick signings in recent memory, the Rays will continue to build their farm system as well with some big bonuses. Sources indicate that second-round pick Kyle Lobstein will sign with Tampa for $1 million, and that fourth-round selection Ty Morrision, a toolsy outfielder with plus speed and power projection, will also sign for a 'slightly' over-slot bonus.

Didn’t we sign Longoria the day we drafted him?

They need to sign Carpenter. From what I’ve read, he is as good as Lobstein. That would be awesome.

I literaly was about to do a Fanshot questioning why we haven't signed our #2 and #4 picks!
This is great news! But how credible is Kevin Goldstein? Ah hell, doesn’t matter…I believe him. Thank god we were able to ink both guys, but I am especially giddy about Kyle Lobstein. Teams stayed away from him because of the money he wanted. Morrison will add to the weak OF depth we have. Great job DRO!!!

Projectable lefty
taken in the 21st round. 6’5”, already touches 92. Scholly to Gonzaga, would probably take top 3 or 4 round money to sign him.

Nice! But why so much money? And why wasn't he taken earlier than the 21st round? He's asking for crazy money for being drafted in the 21st round

Because he has options
And nobody wants to waste a 3rd-4th Round pick on a kid they can’t sign. Which is why draft position doesn’t mean too much in baseball

Carpenter had an injury problem
A quote I found from his coach was “Ryan was coming off a year where he was trying to recapture his form due to a growth problem in his shoulders.”
I’m not saying that’s THE reason he fell, but I’m sure it contributed.
