I'd be willing to overpay to keep him away from the Sox

But the fact that I would makes me think Beane is playing shadow teams off of one another in search of a sucker

I wonder how far we will go

It’s like being a Yankee fan though, I want us to go as far as we have to, to make sure he doesnt go to Boston

I dont understand why people are so caught up on Perez

Ive seen him play against RHP and LHP and while yes he has good speed he isnt that great. I havent seen anything that makes me think he wouldnt be right back in Durham next year.

Accordin to Buster Olney

We have talked about Casey Blake, Xavier Nady, and Brian Fuentes. No mention of Street or Murton for that matter.

Have we given up on Bay?

Although these rumors change everyday so I wont believe anything until August 1st comes.

Bay's asking price is higher than Nady's

So if we were to give up on one of them it would be Bay.

it's worth paying more for Bay.

but the Pirates have basically pulled him off the market because they want to trade Nady while his value his highest.

Sox willing to trade fields

The White Sox are willing to trade third baseman Josh Fields, currently at Triple-A Charlotte after hitting 23 home runs as a rookie last season, to the Athletics for Street.

AL Rumors and Rumblings: The Red Sox are rethinking their plan of staying quiet at the trading deadline. In addition to Marte, they’re interested in Rockies left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes, Royals lefty Ron Mahay, and Athletics closer Huston Street, who is also on the radar of the White Sox and Brewers. Like the Phillies, the Red Sox may make a big off-season pitch for Holliday if they decide not to exercise the 2009 club option on Manny Ramirez

my take, i’m not sold on fields from the A’s perspective. he’ll be 26, not good defensively, repeating AAA. but he does have power which A’s need

my guess if poreda is in the deal + 3rd solid player like getz/egbert…this will get done. unless rays/boston outbids them
