I'm going to change my MVP vote to Friedman

I think he gets a deal done tonight. The season so far has been a nice tease and I don’t think he will want to dissapoint by sitting back and letting the Yankees make this move Sox get back Papi without doing anything. Whether it is Bonds or just Blake, I think a deal gets done.

The Pirates will get Jose Tabata, Ross Ohlendorf and two other prospects from the Yankees for Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte, SI.com’s Jon Heyman reports.
Pittsburgh came down off its initial price tag an awful long way then. Tabata still has very exciting potential and is incredibly young, but his wrist problem are scary and he’s looking like a headcase. Ohlendorf has never been a good bet to develop into anything more than a sixth- and seventh-inning guy. Pitcher Phil Coke is also believed to be in the deal, and he’s a true long shot to help.

With the better contract, I would think that he would be a more coveted target. With the prospects the Yankees gave up, maybe the Pirates would feel that they wouldn’t need as much now to unload Bay.

You act as if I wanted Baldelli to fail.

I was told things didn’t look well, and I’m still not convinced he’s going to be that part, but don’t mistaken that for me not wanting Rocco to be healthy and playing because Rocco was one of my favorites when he was playing.

Of course he was everyone’s favorites, considering we only had 2-4 good players any given year.

Saw him play in Sarasota against the Reds

Didnt look all that well to me … Maybe there was a legitimate groin injury though. I am not a doctor and he didn’t look like he could keep up. But that was before they sent him to AA for rehab on the groin. But I will say, even a hurt Baldelli on this team is better than Gomes is right now in RF and at the plate. I wasnt too optimistic that he would be coming back but I could be wrong. I would love to see him back but I will remain less than optimistic because I dont think we should count on it.

like I mentioned earlier, it will be interesting to see how the teams responds if we don’t do anything. I fear they would get the attitude that the ownership is still planning for the future and that this year is just a bonus and we should just be happy with w/e
