Stark: Blake to Dodgers very close
Jason Stark on ESPN is reporting that Blake to the Dodgers for Carlos Santana and Jon Meloan is almost a done deal.
If it happens, which seems like it will, it makes a Rays trade less likely. The highly rumored names are now gone and it seems that any trade that does happen will come from no where. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but does eliminate a lot of the past rumors.
FWIW, Sickles ranked Meloan as the Dodgers #5 and a B prospect, Santana wasn't ranked but looks to be having a good year.

A little more info...
From BA:
Carlos Sanatana
Team: high Class A Inland Empire (California)
Age: 22
Why He’s Here: .357/.486/.500 (10-for-28), 4 2B, 7 RBIs, 10 R, 8 BB, 6 SO
The Scoop: The Dodgers plucked Santana out of the Dominican Republic in 2004 and he’s always been well-regarded for his defense behind the plate, but his bat has really taken off this year for high Class A Inland Empire. After hitting just .223/.318/.370 in low Class A last year, Santana is batting .323/.431/.563 this year, and his name can be found all over the Cal League’s leader boards. He leads the minors in RBIs (96) and his league in on-base percentage and runs scored (88).
Seems like they may have gave up quite a bit. More than I would have imagined.

Yeah
Not sure I would have wanted to give up that much to outbid the Dodgers on this deal. If true, the Indians get more for just Blake than the Pirates got for Nady and Marte, IMHO.

I only say that because
Meloan can deal. Not high on Santana.

Now that that deal has been reconfidured to exclude Kontos, I'd agree with you.
Kontos made that deal a slight win for the Pirate, now…not so much.

A friend of mine works for the Rays, he told me several nights ago that Nady and Blake where being highly pursued and he hasn’t heard anyone else’s name mentioned.

What Maddon said
Last night before the game he commented that Andrew had some real, real good ideas which sounds like to me that Andrew is thinking outside the box and is trying to work a deal or deals that are under the radar as opposed to players that the whole contending spectre of playoff teams are bidding for. This fits Andrew ’s MO because how many times have we said “I never saw that coming” or “He always does something no one has predicted” or “If we mention this guy it surely won’t happen because it never is who we think will be acquired”. I still expect something to happen but I also expect the unexpected.

top reason elijah dukes isnt a ray: thinks 9=8 is just a math problem, he gets arrested for the rays telling him he has the green light to steal, with attendance improving there are too many girls for him to knock up, he gets fined too many dollars for referring to us as still the d-rays and cant afford that and child support for his 15 kids and his 10 guns.
