Anyone miss Jorge Cantu? I know pepperoni face seriously slumped with the Rays in 2006,but....
The guy is batting near .300 with 18 HRand 60 RBI. He also has 26 2B and .833 OBS. I love Aki and he works well with Barty, but certainly wouldn't mind having Jorge back (even though he plays 3B now)

Cantu is a butcher in the field.
Evan and Aki are both well above average fielders at their position, if not gold glove caliber, and they’re not to shabby with the bat. I don’t really miss Cantu all that much.
I wouldn't expect him to play 3B of course, but even with his sorry glove, I think I would take him over Aki because of his bat....
Then again, I just had my 8th beer so I’ll probably regret posting this later
could use him as a DH but he didnt want to be here

Could have used him as a DH split with Hinske and utility infielder
but he was unhappy here and had 2 left feet in the field..I liked his bat but he had some of the worst footwork I’ve seen at 2nd base..It all started after that foot injury..think he got too tentative. Happy for him though that he’s having a good year.

Good for Jorge
In 2005, he had great RCF power which vanished and AFAIK has not returned. He has crafted a strong comeback by becoming a dead pull hitter. I think that he will have a tough time maintaining his current pace going forward.
RJ is not an elitist douchebag who hates scouting
I was an enormouos Jorge Cantu fan
...and I am VERY happy for him that he did not just vanish from MLB like he was on his way to. That being said, this team gave him every chance a last place team can give a guy who once hit 120 RBIs for them, and Cantu just HAD TO GO. He was bad defensively at both 2B and 3B to say the least, and his hitting was starting to make you forget about his fielding. For the better part of 1.5 years we let him flounder, and we did the only thing we could. We got anything we could in return, and let him have a new place to try a fresh start.
I don't blame Jorge for letting his pride get t he best of him at the end of his stay here. He was buried in a deep hole in AAA and going nowhere, and was probably more frustrated than anybody. He was in the wrong for getting upset, but it was all due to his own problems so I see no reason to forgive him for that
We gave Jorge a bad rap.
He was fine until he broke his foot. All hell broke lose after that. I wish him the best. But, seriously, he is not that good of a fielder.

lol omg did anyone see that play he tired to make during the marlins/cubs game that was on earlier today on tbs
lol there were 2 outs in the 7th and instead of just throwing to second, he tired to chase down mike fontenot who was advancing to third but then when cantu thought he could just tag him out fontenot just ran back to second and cantu was trying to catch him and no one was on second lol i was like what the hell cantu what are you doing im just glad that any runs scored because of it

Cantu is about 13 runs worse than the average third baseman in the field this year
overall, he’s worse than average
I don't miss Cantu at all
I miss Josh Hamilton though. Gee, do you think he would have solved our RF problems?
