Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
i dont really care either way
If the Sox lose, we can expand our lead. If Yankees lose, they can be buried some more.
Mariano is having an amazing season.
He picked his spots to suck very well today.

Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
Oh dear God
are we going to have to put up with Loverboy during this entire broadcast?
Where is my handgun?
I lose a lot of respect for Shields if that is true
I want my staff leaders to have better taste in music. MC Hammer better sell out :)

Hey Sonnanstine does have good taste.
He warms up to Lupe!

Nice, quick first out

9 pitches
Very nice start.
Now send Greinke crying to his psychiatrist.

Most talented young pitchers look younger.
See Kazmir and Lincecum.

Actually, that seems pretty high.
Considering he’s 26, right?
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 5, 2008 7:18 PM EDT up reply actions
yes, no active player his age or younger has more
and he’s on pace to finish in good company, if his knee holds up
he's already at 300,
if he averages 50 a year, which is below his current average, for only 10 years, which considering he’s only 26 is plausible, looking at ricky henderson playing til past that age, he would end up in the 800’s, 700’s minimum, which is top 10 all time.
I saw him pitch last night vs. the Marlins
For a groundball pitcher he leaves his stuff up way too much.
by R.J. Anderson on Jul 5, 2008 7:19 PM EDT up reply actions
his ceiling is #3
I personally see him being in the bullpen eventually. Hochevar is ok but hes no ace and they could of had Lincecum or Longoria
Miguel Olivo is a Marlins reject
This is why.

maybe,
and coming straight in laying out is the hardest play for a CF, and if he misses it, a run scores. doesn’t seem worth the risk to me.
Carl was shadowing him well enough to risk it, I thought.
But fair enough.

or do we really need him in a more important slot?

i wouldn't
aki has been superb, even if his avg. has been lower. i have seen more extended AB’s out of him this year then anyone on the team.
I don't care about his batting average.
But the other point you raise is valid. Aki is the second most selective hitter on the team behind B.J.

he is awesome for getting us Howell though.

Sonnastine is a stud tonight
2nd time he pitched out of an inning that our D should of gotten out of
All that matters is he's keeping the Rays ahead on a day when the Sox have already lost.
A win here is huge, I don’t care if they were playing a AA team.
I root for the two worst teams in baseball, non-ironically.
I'm probably the biggest Sonny guy here
I’m just saying he is facing a weak lineup and I fully expect each of our starters to saw through them.

100th pitch coming
and thank god because he is setting us down now, well except for the great Ben Zobrist

Jackson and Sonnanstine

That would be a huge steal for the Rays.
Greinke is Shields/Kazmir-level good.
I root for the two worst teams in baseball, non-ironically.
Do we have another shields in the minors....
cause that’s not much of an upgrade….and a pretty big blow for us. :P
Right now Shields is the weakest of our Big 3, and I think while Grienke hasn't had that signature game yet
I’d think he’s a fair bit better than him.
We've got shields locked up for another 3 years iirc....
If we’d give up one of the big 3, i’d prefer Garza, since he’s only signed through this year and shields and kaz are signed for 3+ more.
Although, any details on a possible extension for Garza?
Shields is Greinke
Good K:BB ratio and therefore good WHIP, but slightly homer prone. I’d take Shields experience, contract, and lack of head problems. Both are fun to watch.
Greinke is better than Shields, talent wise.
Don’t get me wrong, Shields is great, but Greinke is ridiculously underrated.

yes and
in addition to those trades
Garza, Bartlett and Morlan for Young, Harris and Pridle is looking better with every start by Garza
Kazmir for Zambrano….do I really have to say anything here?
Wiggy for Wheeler….lock down SU man who can close for Wigginton
We are awesome
aki signing was awesome also
a lot of people hated saying we paid too much when we aren’t gonna win for a while but he only played on a shitty team for 1 year.
who did we get Jackson for again?
Sure, the control is annoying but he is above average and if I remember right we traded Lance Carter for him.
