Who Wulda Thunk It
In the last 18 games (since June 18th) he has scored 19 runs and his 28 hits are unsurpassed by anyone on the team. He’s hit .363 in 77 ABs with 4 HRs and 14 Ribbys. Is he Evan Longoria?
No, Evan has actually done better (.383-5-20 in 73 ABs). Our guy’s the reluctant centerfielder, the thinking man’s ballplayer. Yup, Carl Crawford has been on fire since returning from his suspension. Who woulda thunk it, apparently not CC…after all, he doesn’t like to think.
On the other hand, the other centerfielder has been chillin like one of Joe’s chardonnays. In 70 ABs he’s hitting an even .200 with only 4 ribbys and 1 blast. He has scored 14 runs however. But that’s Ruthian compared to the bat of Jonny Gnomes (.047 in 21 ABs). Talk about shrinkage. ‘Jonny, grow the long locks back. Your bats been as potent as George Castanza’s after a swim ever since going to the skinhead look 2 years ago
On the other other hand, Hinske has been rocking along at a .325-2-10 in 43 ABs, and while Gross hasn’t hit much better than Jonny at least he has 6 rbis in his limited plate appearances and there’s a legitimate purpose for him to wear a glove.

I looked up Carl's numbers since his return this morning.
They are pretty impressive:
18 G .364 .405 .558

I STILL see CC being a perrenial all star
he needs to do 1 thing, stop thinking so much and he will be one of the better hitters in the league. I mean even with him being so goddamn impatient, his stats still aren’t that bad

seems to think too much when there are RISP
I mean it’s either that or he sucks under pressure. I think he wants to do too much, wants that granny every chance he gets.

His numbers say differently...
He has been a vastly superior player this year w/ RISP. His OPS is .865 compared to .768 in all situations.

All im saying is
and I love CC but it looks like he always wants a homer with RISP instead of getting a nice bloop single or a double.

He's a Bum
Folks, part of the reason I posted this is to send a little love CC’s way. IMO the reaction to his ‘ambushed’ comment is akin to much ado about nothing and the public flogging is getting ridiculous. Some guy just called Justin at 620 and said we’d be better off trading Crawford who’s making it clear he doesn’t want to be here. Wow, it must be great to be a mind reader.
It’s like my father used to always say. HUH?
Folks this is arguably our best all around player given we’ve only seen 2 mos worth of Evan.
Yes sir. Let’s get rid of this bum. Forget what he has done throughout the entirety of his career. Forget that he has improved his stats every year. Forget that he is among the youngest of players to reach 1000 hits. Forget that he is just one of nine players to steal 300 bases before his 27th birthday. Forget that he leads the team in runs scored and is 2nd in RBIs. He failed to hustle to get to a ball so let’s question his commitment and loyalty to the team and forget about all of the hustling, diving all-out abandon he typically shows in the field.
Yes sir, let’s get rid of this bum.
And return to the days of 60+ wins.

B.J. Upton is still on the team, right?

B.J. Upton is still on the team, right?
Key word is arguably RJ, although it would have been better stated if I said one of the best. I’m just reacting to the asinine firestorm that has developed over the ambushed comment.
I’m not at all saying CC is above objective criticism. It infuriates me that he continues to show so little patience at the plate, only because he would be such a prolific hitter if he would only work the count and not be afraid to take a few strikes. But saying he should be traded, questioning his loyalty and desire to be on this team as
And yes RATW, I do intentionally resort to ‘Hyperbole Overload’ at times. Not just for dramatic effect, but sometimes as a retort to perceived ignorance.

it doesn't need to be said that i agree 100%
but try telling what you just said to most of the knee-jerk clowns hanging around here/town, they will bite your head off.

If you think so little of the site community, then why do you persist in posting here?

Upton has incredible patience
Longoria > Upton > Crawford
but all 3 will own for a very long time and hopefully all 3(im looking at you Upton) do it with the Rays

I don't think anyone has said Crawford is a bum
or that we should get rid of him
