1.62 WHIP but only a 4.19 ERA

All of those ground balls. Jeter has the best range in all of baseball according to the Yankee fans so we’re totally doomed.

I have to admit

I couldn’t believe he got to the ball last night where he got Navi out at second. That was a nice play, but honestly Navi got the worst jump humanly possible. He didn’t even start running until it was about in Jeters glove.

by Sveet on Jul 9, 2008 12:26 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Navi had a terrible jump

I couldn’t believe he was out by that much given how slow that ball was hit and Jeets had to impersonate a ballerina to get that ball off.

Bartlett would have made it look routine :)

Longoria

I think he rests his eyeballs during the day to prevent unnecessary sun damage.

What about Salas

I was a huge Salas fan last year. i know he walks a ton of guys but he can throw multiple innings and his command has been slightly better this year in Triple A. Seems like its about time for him to get a shot at upgrading what seems to be a declining bullpen.

by FanDisplaced on Jul 9, 2008 12:11 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That's definitely an option worth looking at

Reyes will probably displace a position player when he comes back, but Salas has got to be the first choice in Triple A to replace any struggling relief pitcher thereafter. The problem is that the team also needs to activate Percival as well, and once those two get back, I think the team will be mostly satisfied with the status of their bullpen. Through it all, one of Glover or Hammel will remain, so there are still weak spots. That being said, I don’t know that the team will be pro-active in replacing either of those two given that Hammel has value but not options, and Glover has not been THAT awful lately.

by Patrick L. Kennedy on Jul 9, 2008 12:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I guess it would take a trade

Even then however, a trade would likely be targeting a relief pitcher and not eliminating one. Salas might have to wait for the rosters to expand to get his chance to show something.

MLB.tv

Does anyone watch mlb.tv on a mac? if so, how much do i have to go through in order to be able to?

by FanDisplaced on Jul 9, 2008 12:13 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nothing really to go through

Just make sure you have Flip 4 Mac and Silverlight installed.

by kurros on Jul 9, 2008 12:15 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Other possible give-aways

Carlos Pena personal fan, Gary Glover mop, Troy Percival game of Operation, Edwin Jackson signed copy of Mein Kampf, JP Howell radar ball (just slam it against your hand and you throw 102mph!), a mini-refrigerator from Dioner Navarro which he had to take off of his own back, and a BJ Upton hammock.

Nice Lineup Today

I’m hoping we can put some runs on the board

by Acadien on Jul 9, 2008 1:09 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Just hit everything over the wall

those assholes A-Rod and Jeter will turn into gold glovers against us.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:09 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

great

lets make Ponson look like an ace now.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:11 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

we all know hes streaky

he just needs to get out of this bad streak

by Acadien on Jul 9, 2008 1:12 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

So the pitch selection...

is the process you are referring to?

Boom. Outta Here.

by WillisDaddy on Jul 9, 2008 1:23 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That's a bold statement...

what if the scouting report is that Ponson will try and pump a FB past the batter in a 1-0 count, and Ponson went to the sinker instead?

Boom. Outta Here.

by WillisDaddy on Jul 9, 2008 1:26 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Beane wasn't on top of his game

but of course since it’s Oakland, Gallagher will turn into an ace and Harden will get a season ending injury.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:17 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Rob Neyer thinks this is going to Mulder for Haren, part 2...

i think that’s very possible, but was Gaudin really necessary?

9 = 8

by websterjtc on Jul 9, 2008 1:18 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

My point:
- Why can’t Sean Gallagher step into the A’s rotation without them missing a beat? He’s more of a groundball pitcher than Harden which plays into the Oakland defense’s hands, ranked first in defensive efficiency. Gallagher is only 22 and his K/BB ratio is 2.23, Harden’s career K/BB ratio is 2.25.

by R.J. Anderson on Jul 9, 2008 1:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

come on EJ

don’t fucking walk a guy who is 1 for 16 against you and now A-Rod is up. I don’t see good things in our future.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:19 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

There's a Jeter-A-Rod-Madonna joke in there somewhere

Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

by Orlando Rays on Jul 9, 2008 1:21 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

god

Giambi had to get an rbi? That just makes it much worse

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:22 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

DON'T SQUEEZE JACKSON

He can throw balls without any help.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:23 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

normally

I wouldn’t be worred facing Ponson. but we are mentally retarded with the bats lately.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:24 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I hope CC is watching Pena

because he even knows no to hack away against Ponson

because Staats and Magrane are hilarious.

Boom. Outta Here.

by WillisDaddy on Jul 9, 2008 1:30 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sorry I am at work

I am listening on MLB.com. I have the MLB.TV package but for some reason I can watch everything but Rays games on there. It pisses me off

by PewterPirate55 on Jul 9, 2008 1:32 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Thanks for playing America's #1 new game show

“How will the Rays not score?” I’m Chuck Woollery, we’ll be back next inning, stay tuned for a brand new episode of “Edwin Jackson allows multiple runners to get into scoring position.”

Checking in from LL to say GO RAYS!

and that Sidney Ponson doesn’t look like an utter douche in his file photo, go figure

by seattlebruin on Jul 9, 2008 1:34 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What point are you missing here...

Crawford doesn’t work counts, Crawford swings at ton of balls outside of the strike zone, Crawford makes contact but usually results in an out, and by not having patience he doesn’t get into hitters’ counts.

by R.J. Anderson on Jul 9, 2008 1:43 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wind

Assuming I’m reading it right the wind is blowing back towards the first base line at 14mph.

by kurros on Jul 9, 2008 1:39 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I miss Bartlett :(

I never appreciated him :(

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:41 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

hmmm

Has Ponson threw a strike yet?

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:44 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

lets give them 1 thing

no one is better at getting 2 out hits and leaving them on base. We are #1 there.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:48 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   1 recs

WHAT ARE YOU SWINGING AT

I swear, I am gonna throw something at the TV soon.

by joeybw on Jul 9, 2008 1:50 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Probably did

You wouldn’t know.

Boom. Outta Here.

by WillisDaddy on Jul 9, 2008 1:52 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You don't even go to the games

You’re the worst kind of fan. You are hyper-critical and presumptious. You pass off your opinion as fact and absolute. I never claimed that I knew the scouting report.

Boom. Outta Here.

by WillisDaddy on Jul 9, 2008 1:55 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I would say so.

It takes quit a fan to deepthroat Crawford at every stop.

by R.J. Anderson on Jul 9, 2008 1:59 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I've been to more than 30 games this year..

and you and Patrick have turned down premium tickets offered to you by people on here.

Boom. Outta Here.

by WillisDaddy on Jul 9, 2008 2:01 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He spends more time on the blog...

Talking Rays baseball, then you spend in going to games and thinking of baseball. GOing to games is an absurd way to judge a fan.

by td32 on Jul 9, 2008 2:02 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I didn't offer you the tickets...

and I can’t see how accepting tickets would be be improper of you.

Boom. Outta Here.

by WillisDaddy on Jul 9, 2008 2:04 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm not taking someone's tickets because I don't want to owe anyone anything.

That was pretty obvious in my first statement. I’ll be attending a few games over the last 30, will it be more than you? No, but frankly I don’t care.
