WE NEED BARRY!

Now with Crawford going to the DL & possibly out for the rest of the season, why not sign Barry Bonds? We need to slam the door shut on the AL East! Bonds is a free agent. We wouldn't have to give up a thing for him, other than a few bucks. We can atleast sign Barry Bonds for the remainder of the season. Even with the return of Rocco Baldelli, I can't say that I trust Rocco staying healthy & productive given his past injury history. Why not take a chance on Bonds?

No we dont

This team has thrived on having a great clubhouse and chemistry, why do anything drastic to change that. I dont care so much about the steroid thing as I do about the distractions and attitude. Bonds is like the polar opposite of Floyd, he may be the best hitter of all time but how many rings does he have?

I just don't buy it

With all of the issues, real and imagined, that have surrounded BJ, CC, and Garza this year, forgive me for thinking we are winning because we are the most all-around talented team in the division.

And Cliff Floyd is somehow better than Bonds because he stole at-bats from Moises Alou back in 1997?

God.

You don’t know what the clubhouse is like, or what Barry is like for one. Next I guess Luis Sojo is better than Ted Williams because he has more rings.

When we start winning

People conveniently ignore items such as these:

“What’s the matter? Nobody in Minnesota ever said you acted like a [jerk]?”
“(Maddon) ambushed me with it today.”
"I just work here."
“I tried to have a good time on my birthday, but I guess that was the worst one.”

Of course if we were tanking, people would be pointing to these very same events and saying how our clubhouse is in disarray. The Lesson? Winning MAKES chemistry. If Bonds helps the Rays win, I’m all for it.

I would rather have Kenny Lofton then Barry Bonds.

Lofton plays more “Rays” type of baseball, plus he can play all the outfield positions, he has multiple years of play-off experience. Please DON’T GET BARRY BONDS.

Bonds or Dunn?

I see Dunn is available… I would think since the Rays already made an offer for him previous or had one ready, he may be an option. The D-Backs claimed him but couldn’t supply the Reds with enough return talent. Can we supply that? LF option possibly more likely DH.

WE NEED HARRY!

he kills lefty pitching, and is also a free agent… also, great clubhouse presence.

And Henderson would be his hitting coach.

Sounds like a match made in Hollywood.

Ugh...

The argument for or against signing Barry Bonds has nothing to deal with the game of baseball. If it was a purely baseball decision than Bonds would be on a team by now. If it was a clubhouse thing then he’d still be on a team. It’s neither. Barry Bonds is probably less likely to come to this team now than he was in March.
