Winn & Aurilia to Rays?
Has anyone heard any word of this?
There is word here in the REAL Bay Area that the Giants just called up Minor League infielder Ryan Rohlinger as a possible precursor to a trade with the Rays. Supposedly the deal would be Randy Winn and Rich Aurilia for prospects...not sure which those would be if it goes through. Still not a done deal obviously...just some chirping going on.
And consider the following:
All teams have been scared away by Bonds' off the field baggage but I do think that if (BIG if!) Bonds shows he can still hit, he'd be worth a look. He wouldn't cost any prospects and if he doesn't work out, you can always just cut him and the Rays would be no worse off than they are now.

The REAL Bay Area
Because what we lack in Tampa BAY is a body of water forming an indentation of the shoreline, larger than a cove but smaller than a gulf.

Everybody knows Hudson Bay is really a gulf
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

Winn & Aurilia
Interesting….. This wouldn’t be too bad I suppose

Give up prospects?
Fuck no. Taking Rich Aurillia is the cost of getting Randy Winn in this transaction.

They just DFA’d Castillo. Wouldn’t this be why they re-called Rohlinger?

what's wrong with Aurilia?
he’s a better utility infielder then Aybar or Zobrist…

he smells like an old man
I’ve been singing praises to return Winn to his home for years now.

Aurilia
Is it possible the Giants just move Aurilia to 1B now that they’ve demoted they’re 1B who wasn’t producing. And put the rook at 3B.

Aurilia's worse than Zobrist, etc.
He’s been a below average fielder at 1B this year. And his bat projects as below average.
I like Winn, but he’s not really needed next year, especially at $8.25MM. Hopefully there’d be money involved.

On the surface this doesnt make ANY sense
Winn will cost us 8 mil next year when we will have no use for him, and we are supposedly giving up prospects dfor these 2? first of all, I’ll take Zobrist and Aybar over Aurilia. Zobrist and Aybar are FAR younger, and if not as good (I think they are) they are damn close. Aurilia would really only help us until Bartlett is playing the field again, and even then he is barely helping us.
I’ll go out on a limb and say if we wouldnt pull the trigger on a Bay/Nady etc trade then we arent giving up any prospect worth having for Winn/Aurilia.

No use?
You realize there is no guarantee Hinske is back next year, and the RFO may not pick up Floyd’s option?

Dude
We still need a RF next year.

Dude
Winn is not the answer NEXT YEAR
We will OBVIOUSLY upgrade in another way. Winn is a stop gap at best right now, and not what this team needs. Thsi teams number 1 need in the offseason is a bat. Not a Randy Winn bat. And the only places that bat fits into this team is in RF or at DH. So if Randy Winn is playing RF, than that seriously takes away from an opportunity to upgrade our lineup the way it needs to be
Seriously you want Winn in RF next year? I wasnt even planning on having Hinske, but I think it is obvioous we need to set our targhets higher than Winn, who is a nice player but not what we need to go after

how about michael cuddyer?
with denard span doing really well this year in the majors, either him or cuddyer probably will be available in a trade and i would think that the penny pinching twins would want to get rid of cuddyer’s contract, im not sure what the twins would want in return though, he is signed through 2010 and has an option for 2011 and he is friends with lazy ass upton
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. BJ UPTON IS NOT LAZY! ! ! Gabe Gross= clutch. David Price is the next big time pitcher.

Cuddyer is a crappy fielder with one very good season
With Winn’s fielding, I think he’s actually a decent option.
Rosterbation idea: trade Crawford for something more than he’s worth if possible and sign Winn for the same price. Winn and Crawford are very similar players.
