Even when the pitcher is a stud, the AFRO has kept HS pitchers in short season for at least a full year. Don’t expect to see him make a full-season debut until 2010.

Davis, McGee, Hellickson, Waechter, etc. The only HS pitcher I can think of who skipped short season was Houser.

There are a few others as well. Some teams just universally skip their better prospects over short season, especially the ones who value prospects as trade bait more than as future pieces of the team, since a prospect’s trade value is increased if they have better ARL.

The only reason why he hasn’t been shelled is because of some excellent defense. I don’t want to see him come out in the 6th. He’ll have to face Vlad again.
