I hope you're angry at Joe
Ruggs to LF
Navi as a PH
Why not Howell in to pitch to Anderson
Tell me, how is this Joe's fault?
What was wrong with Navi pinch-hitting? Is he somehow crappy all of the sudden? Why did you need Howell in there? Wasn’t Bradford’s groundball to Aki good enough for you? If all the plays worked out for the Rays tonight, you wouldn’t be talking shit. Sterny, you are one annoying dude, but then you already knew that. I’m sure you realize that the Angels are a good team(best record in AL now), and that aside from the bad calls, the breaks just didn’t go the Rays way. Shit happens. Just ask your mom.
I hate Navi as a PH
he’s an auto DP machine
ANd check that BA, sinking as fast as the Titanic
winning 2 of 3 against LA, and also having boston lose?
In the larger picture……not so much gah
Navi has requested a number change to #43
It’ll make it easy on the scorer
Navarro: 12 GDP Crawford: 10
GOD NAVARRO, WHY YOU GROUND INTO SO MANY DPS? BE MORE LIKE CARL.

Gah to ESPN for making the game blacked out on MLB.TV (even w/ proxy)

gah to MLB to have the umps try and destroy us
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
Free outs are fun
Hinske: 2
Umpires: 2
Aki: 1
Ruggiano: 1
We could have easily shut these guys out tonight.
The Angels could have also easily won the series.
The Rays had enough chances to win tonight and didn’t get it done.
Obviously
But the single to Mathis and the double to Figgans in the third were both plays that pretty much anybody but Hinske would have made. That nixes the scoring in the third. And hit/error/hit by Aki would’ve nixed the run in the 9th…
So I mean it kind of literally. We should have shut these guys out tonight.
Hey, gotta love takin two outta three against the team with the best record in baseball.
We’re still up on the Sawx!
we couldve been the best team after tonight though
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
ya im really happy with 2 out of 3
also really glad the red sux keep choking their chances to gain on us and the yankees sucking still
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
btw rglass thanks for the invite to the football fantasy league
im MnVikings08? i picked that since i hope this is the year that they win the superbowl but they have been there 4 times and lost all of them
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
Ruggs not what a defensive replacement is supposed to do
He should play for the Yankees, they are scared of the ball
jonny damon is terrified of the ball
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
And Abreu I hear
is afraid of the wall!!

and A-Rod is afraid of playoff at bats, which i hope he doesnt see for the rest of his yankee career
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
Not saying you are wrong, but I think Arod is better in the postseason then most people give him credit...
.279/.361/.483 in 147 postseason ab’s
ya those are decent numbers, but since he has been in NY they have sucked
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
If Zo can play the 8th he can play the 9th
or put Rocco in
The Jays own the Sawx
Especially at home. Too bad Halladay isn’t going this weekend. They got Marcum, Litsch, and Burnett. Jays’ll take 2 of three.
Tough series this weekend against the ChiSox
Sweep would be great. Two-out-of-three would be nice. One-out-of-three would be acceptable. A sweep sucks ass.
I'm believing we get 1 out of 3
tough pitching matchups for the Rays

Jackson v Danks
I don’t even think I’ll watch. Thats gonna be brutal.
But given the way Sonny is pitching, I think we can win the other two.
Jackson is our road warrior
Don’t discount him, but Danks owned us last time
by sofladude77 on Aug 20, 2008 11:11 PM EDT up reply actions
every series im just hopeing for 2 out of 3 and a sweep if possible
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.
Two lefties this weekend
No Hinske Friday or Sunday, Pena power disappears. I think Baldelli plays two games
Buerhle isn't great against lefties
We hit him pretty good last time. It is Danks who owns us like we’re his pimp. We haven’t touched him in two starts.

Maddon is a bad gameday manager
I’ve been saying this for awhile now (years). He manages by feel instead of situations. Yesterday we bunt in a less bunt friendly scenario than tonight. It makes no sense. If we are bunting last night then we HAVE to bunt tonight. I just hate the managing by gut. It is just too hit and miss.
Quite a few of his moves tonight were debatable. But honestly the only one that was a horribly wrong was hitting Navi instead of bunting. The rest were close moves that just went bad. The Navi swinging away made no sense. If you think it makes sense then you ahve to admit Maddon screwed up last night. Cant have it both ways.
I don't disagree with not bunting
but I do disagree with the decision to pinch hit Navi, who is a very big GIDP threat and has been slumping lately…
If there’s one thing that I can’t stand about Maddon, its that he lives and dies by the lefty/righty matchup. I can’t stand it sometimes.
Well he shoudl have bunted Riggans and then had Navi hit for Bartlett if he really wanted Navi in there.
Maddon seems to try to look too far ahead to extra innings in these situations. That is the wrong move. You do not worry about who plays where and who pitches what down 1 run in the bottom of the 9th. The only thing that matters is tying the game. If that means you have to play quite a bit out of position then so be it. (oh btw Maddon K-Rod hasn’t thrown more than 1 inning all year, and the Angels had already arguably used their top 2 non-closer bullpen guys).
There is just absolutely no way Navi swings there. He is basically no XBH threat so you are banking on three singles against arguably the best reliever in baseball.
I just do not like the inconsistency you get when you manager by feel so much.
Ejected
Maddon was ejected from last night’s game before the Bartlett bunt and insisted that he had nothing to do with bunting late, that he was watching on television at that point with Zimmer, just like any other fan. Martinez called for it.
So Martinez and Maddon should switch roles
That would be perfect. Maddon just sucks at making strategic decisions.
And yet after all of this...
The Red Sox lost, and one more day of the season evaporated with Boston still 4.5 games back. Tick…tick…tick…tick…
It was a good game. Somedays you are the pigeon and somedays you are the statue.
I think if we pull Hinske from LF Benzo should replace him out there and Ruggs should have been the RF’er but hindsight it 20/20. Third Base ump should have made up for the Bad call at first by calling Figgans out on the steal attempt at third. It came down to the catchers last night. Their double steal was safe and ours was out. Simple as that. I dont know why you would think about stealing with Hinkse late in the game anyways. 1 steal for Hinske in a game is a gutsy call but a double steal with one out is pushing your luck. But I have to give them credit. They played aggressive baseball. Nice to see. Garza pitched well. Some of those runs he allowed were defensive hiccups. 2 out of 3 in Chicago would be fine with me as well.
Why didn't we keep Balfour in during the 9th?
He’s effectively thrown multiple innings before. He could have gotten out of that jam. But oh well…
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
He also walked the leadoff batter on 4 pitches...
Lets be honest….Balfour doesnt walk the leadoff hitter, if Ruggiano catches the routine popup, if Riggans makes a decent throw, or if Aki makes a play that wasnt that difficult…..then the Rays are heading to the bottom of the 9th with a tie game.
If ...
If if’s and but’s were candy and nuts no one would ever starve.
That is what I tell the little leaguers I coach.

Rays loss
So much for the Rug-Man he has been a disappointment. I would have put in Rocco but that is hind-site. I also would have bunted in the 9th, hind-site also. In the best of two worlds BOS would have lost and they did. Magic # 32
His LD%/BABIP don't match up.
Guys hitting nearly 30% LDs don’t have .323 BABIPs.

#32 is the key
Every game we when or they lose, the likelihood of winning the division gets greater and greater.
OGaaT, I know GSG.
Let’s play with the schedule. We have 36 games remaining with half at home and half away. We have a .723 winning percentage at home this year and .491 on the road. If we win at those current rates, we would take 13 at home and 9 away, for 22 wins. The Sawx would have to go 26-9 to match it, a winning percentage of .743. That is nuts.
Let’s see what happens if we back it down a bit and say we’ll lose a few more at home and on the road. Let’s go 10-8 at home and 8-10 on the road. This would be .500 baseball over 36 games. That would be our worst stretch this year. The Sawx would still have to win 22/35 to match us, or a winning percentage of .629. I didn’t look it up, but that would most likely be there best stretch of the year. That is a 102 win pace, and right now the Sawx don’t look like a team that could go on a run like that.
We just need to win games, and the more the Sawx lose the better. How great would it be if the Sawx and Yanks both missed the Playoffs? BTW, the Sawx have 10 left against the Jays, who own them. They haven’t had a winning record against them since 2004 and are 2-6 so far this year.
Here we go Twins, ChiSox, Jays, and Rays!
This is how you win the division:
You lose one, you win three.
You lose one, you win three.
You lose one, you win three.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
