Ray + Bar = a fun saturday

Anyone have a favorite bar that they like to enjoy their favorite adult beverage at while taking in an away Rays game? I usually go to fergs but was wondering if anyone else had a favorite. Also people should go out to a bar saturday and watch the Rays first Fox game.

I've watched away games........

I’ve watched away games at a couple of places this year and one is good, one is not so good.

1. Courigan’s. Downtown St. Pete on the ground floor of Bayfront Towers. It’s not a bad place to watch a game. We’ve been there on a few occasions. The beer is a little pricey but not outrageous.

2. The Sports Bar on 94th Ave N. in St. Pete. It’s called The “Sports” Bar but it’s hardly that. It’s a nice place to go play pool, video golf, karaoke, but not to watch a game. We caught the 2nd Red Sox game back in early July there and they had music cranked up until the 8th inning. If I recall that was a very important series and the Rays were playing very well then. There were quite a few people in there but to not have audio until the 8th, its NOT a sports bar.

We like the Midtown in downtown St. Pete...

The TVs are lousy, but the food is good and the staff is friendly. Also, you never know when our esteemed governor might put in an appearance. (Plus, it’s near my work.)

Matt Geiger’s Courtside Grill in the Feather Sound/Carillon area has awesome TVs.

Courigan’s has nice TVs and an excellent beer selection, but you’ll want to avoid it for sports-watching when there is live Irish music. Fridays and…?

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

Aug. 23 – Come on out to Grille 121 located in Baywalk on Saturday, Aug. 23, and watch the Rays take on the Chicago White Sox for a Rays Watch Party. Enjoy great food with drink specials throughout the game and starting at 3 p.m. with the first pitch at 3:55 p.m. See you at Grille 121 located at 121 Second Ave. North, St. Petersburg, FL 33701!

They have quite a few of the Rays watch parties throughout the season. Check back there if you’re interested in attending in the future
