It's BS
Boras knows the monetary terms can’t change, he’s trying to leverage other terms, and probably failing at it. The new MLB rules about getting a pick in the next year’s draft really put a crimp in Boras’ negotiating style, and he’s trying to create his own new loophole so he can distinguish himself from other agents.

Working for that kind of control freak is never fun. You would get zero input, and he’d leave you out of all the important decisions, so you wouldn’t even get insight to his negotiating style. Getting a job for IMG would be much better.

They should just let him rot on the restricted list
MLB recognizes the contract but he doesn’t; he can’t turn to the player’s union for help, because that would be admitting he signed a valid contract. Let Boras stupidly try to take this to a real court of law, Alvarez isn’t going to want to foot the bill and will dump his ass faster than a concrete truck.

The more suttle and straight-faced the sarcasm is, the harder it is for me to pick up.
Generally, if I think that someone could actually do something they’re claiming happened, I don’t pick it up as sarcasm. That’s not to say that I think you would do something like that, but being I don’t really know you, I can’t bring that into the equation. I could see someone doing what you said as not too far fetched. It’s a horribly misguided, hillarious, and sad concept, but it’s not beyond someone doing.

Speaking hyopthetically, here’s how I interpreted it:
You saw someone groping on your girlfriend – Logical
You stood up and defended her – Logical
In taking offense to what the guy said, you said something very very dumb – Illogical and hillarious
Getting dumped afterwards – Logical if what you said above in defending her is legit
Therefore, I fell for it. Now if you had said that she banged your brains out afterwards, I would have picked up the sarcasm.

Beckett is overrated (still good, just not some superstar), Dice-K is vastly overrated, then who else do they really have? Lester? Well he is comparable to Garza. We have a stronger 4-5 also.

Dumbest Move of the Year ...

They would be better with Manny there. They should have traded Ortiz and kept Manny at DH. JD Drew being on the DL isnt helping them. Also if they had to play the Yankees every night they would finish with the best record in baseball too.

Delcarmen is pitching better.
I think I pretty much established that when I said:
Masterson Ks less, walks more, and allows more homeruns while inducing the same # of grounders and more liners.
Unless you think the better guy who is:
- less prone to strike someone out
- more prone to walk a batter
- more prone to give up a homerun
- more prone to give up a hit

BAA is a poor stat to use to judge hittability.
It fluctuates based on things like defense. Delcarmen gives up less liners and therefore should have less hits fall for him. His BABIP is high for his 14 LD. Masterson’s is low for his LD. Those will regress.

They play on the same team. They should have the same defense. Actually you can probably make the argument that Delcarmen would have better defense than Masterson due to Mastersons time as a starter (late inning defensive replacements). Although I get your point.

Note that Masterson's ERA as reliever is
1.96, don’t count the starter stats. only 4 walks as a reliever. 18Ks in 18 IP. He turned A-ROD last nite into a DP victim with the bases loaded. Oh if you didn’t watch the game last nite Masterson got AROD out of the mess that Delcarmen made.

Still you are overrating Delcarmen
I’ll take Bradford, Balfour, and Wheeler over Delcarmen, end of story

Balfour is fine.
Wheeler or Bradford? You’re hurting your own team.

I would take our bullpen over theirs
I think they have more talent. But as a whole unit our bullpen is more effective.
Take Papelbon v Percival. Sure Papelbon is FAR more talented at this stage than Percival, but the Red Sox get little edge there. The difference in real results(IE W/L in closing situations) between Percival and Papelbon is minimal at best.

Yeah, I think the opposite is true. I think our pen is stronger and their rotation is better.

No. The AFL is an extremely advanced league.
He’s get absolutely eaten alive there.

It's essentially AAA level quality, if not slightly higher
and in an extreme hitters environment.

Maybe above AAA is a slight exaggeration.
But it’s basically used as a MLB finishing school. A lot of guys getting close to the big leagues that need to get some more polish. Almost everyone is at least a marginal prospect. It’s a pretty high level.
Even if my assessment is a little high, Lobstein would be destroyed.

His K rates are still lower than last season.
Unless you meant this month/last month, which is entirely possible.

People, including myself, were hopeful his power was legitimate.
Unfortunately it’s went away this season which may be mechanical or physical. He has however advanced in other aspects of his offensive game.

It is legit. Somethings wrong, but he'll figure it out. His bat speed is just too good for it not too.

We should have 10 runs by now. THe guy sucks nuts. I can hit his fast ball.

How many will the Rays call up Sept. 1st?
I say Dohman, Niemann, Talbot, and Price for pitchers. (maybe Birkins?)
And Gomes, Guzman, Perez, ( Chris Richard, Dan Johnson or E. Johnson maybe?)
No more than a half dozen right?
