Orioles vs. Rays
"Big wheel keep on turnin' / Proud Mary keeps on burnin'/ Rollin', Rollin', Rollin' down the river." Great lyric from one of my favorite Ike and Tina Turner cuts called "Proud Mary." Just so happens the song describe just what the Rays need to do. Keep on rollin'.
Down the proverbial river is the whirlpool known as the Baltimore Orioles. You know some people actually picked the orioles to finish better then the Rays this year? On a similar note, I wonder if Aubrey Huff picks up his paper and laughs? After all didn't Huff once say it was good "not to be in last place?" I may have paraphrased that quote so all apologize the the scholars out there.
How do you feel the Rays will do this series? Another fine voyage or will this be the iceberg that strikes the USS Rays?
Let's go Rays! Pluck the Orioles!

I think tonight is our only real chance at a loss...
Kind of funny with our “ace” going.
God. Damnit.
Proud Mary is a great song, when done by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Ike and Tina Turner??? REALLY?!?!?!?!
You fail harder than anyone has ever failed on this board ever. Ever.
I don’t know what else to say to you.

I know they coverd the song
There’s just something wrong with choosing Ike and Tina over CCR.

This
Rarely can you pick the cover over the original.
Rare Earth covering Get Ready is the only example that comes to mind.
There are PLENTY of examples
Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” blows Dolly Parton’s original out of the water.
GNR’s “Live and Let Die” kicks Wings’ version’s ass.
Most people refer to “Hallelujah” as a Jeff Buckley song instead of a Leonard Cohen song these days.
Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along the Watchtower” owns Bob Dylan.
I don’t think most people even know that songs like Respect (Aretha Franklin / Otis Redding), Tainted Love (Soft Cell / Gloria Jones), Smoke Two Joints (Sublime / The Toys), Louie Louie (The Kingsmen / Rick Berry), Cum On Feel the Noize (Quiet Riot / Slade), etc. are covers because the bands that covered them so made the song their own.
There are a few other personal favorites. I love covers that completely change the meaning of the song by how they’re performed (i.e. Marilyn Manson’s Sweet Dreams, Cake’s I Will Survive, Devo’s Satisfaction, etc.).
Vogt early, Vogt often.
I openly admit that knowledge of music is a weak point
I’m not a huge follower of music. There’s so much trash around everywhere now and I simply don’t want to put forth much effort to wade through all the trash to find anything good. If it’s good, I usually stumble upon it by accident. The only one I can agree with you on is GNR’s Live and Let Die, since it’s the only one I’ve heard both sources on.
I can’t agree on Sweet Dreams, I thought the Eurythmics version was better.
I’ve never been able to figure out which version of ‘Hurt’ I like better, NiNs or Cash’s.
It's Cash
and not even close.

This.
Also, little known fact, the song “Hurt” was written by Trent Reznor after he attempted to pierce his own vagina. True story.
He wants to pierce his vagina like an animal?

CCR's version is good. I like some of there other songs better.
I just love the soul that comes from Ike and Tina Turner. Not to say that CCR doesn’t have soul, far from it really. I just love that version. Sue me if you want to sue me. I still say the greatest baseball player of all time is Willie Mays so you haze me for that one if you would like.
The reason why I like the Ike and Tina Turner version is simply because of the build up. I love that really slow funky beginning. That’s my opinion.

Alright, alright.
At least you have intelligent reasoning behind your opinion…
All is forgiven. Carry on.
He represents all the Northerners that I can't stand in this town.
Better football player then I will ever be, yes. But, I can’t stand his Yankee love. Can’t stand it.
