Got To Be Kidding Me

I live in Bluffton, SC and subscribe to the Extra Innings Package. Just walked in and turned on the TV to another empy house. You locals have got to be the laziest bunch of folks on earth.

My wife is packing right now for us to go to St. Pete for the fourth time this summer to see the Rays. We have two children and my brother drives up from Ft. Myers to meet us. Each time we come, we go to two games, spend two nights in a hotel, drive 6 1/2 hours for the honor of getting to see the Rays do something absolutely special.

Our household income is < $90k and we save money by packing our lunches for each day and take advantage of the down-town Publix for the Chicken Family Meals.

If we can drive for 6 hours - you $#!!!*&#$ from Hillsoborough can drive across the bridge. See you tomorrow and Sunday - Section 124.

This is getting old.

Can we just have one attendance bitching thread.

by rglass44 on Aug 29, 2008 9:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

See "Cheers and Jeers" to the right

for the most recent of all the attendance threads. And in case you haven’t figured it out, most of the people on this board aren’t the ones you need to be bitching too.

I was gonna say

Tonight is not the night to bitch about attendance. You can’t just wave a magic wand and take away 10 years of losing. Anything over 20k should be accepatable

So...

You want to be told that you’re a better fan than us or what?

Also, empty house? For reals? I think it was around 22k last night, or our average draw.

by R.J. Anderson on Aug 30, 2008 11:27 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

That is embarrassing

Our average is still pathetic. And yes he is a great fan. As a whole I have no idea who goes to the games here and who doesn’t. Generally if someone has a real opportunity to go to games, but they just don’t then they aren’t a good fan. I have no problem saying this guy is a better fan than those people.

Is it really that pathetic?

We’re a 10 season old franchise with zero incentive for folks to have season tickets. Teams like Texas, Minnesota, ect. have history and almost unquestionably have more season ticket holders.

It’s great he goes to games despite living a few states away, but seriously, what is gained from calling the long-time fans (which almost everyone here is) out? Is it really the Rays fans you need to call out, or is it the casual fans who haven’t made the leap yet?

I don't think he was calling the fans that frequent this site out. Moreso Rays fans overall

The attendance is pretty pathetic. Overall it just isn’t good and it is pretty hard to dispute that. Although if you do dig deeper it is encouraging in some aspects. We have a huge walk up crowd and the increase in attendance over the course of the season has been good. Pulling 13K though is just not good no matter how you want to spin it.

He influences the fans now.

We need to send him to some other city before everyone just spends all their days being lazy.

i dont care what people say i think bossman man will be better than justin

they both started out their careers the same by struggling as 19 and 20 yrs old but both are going to be great for years to come

even if he's not better, it's next to irrelevant, because both should be stars

you have to be impressed with Justin holding his own during his age 19 (20?) rookie season. that’s something BJ couldn’t do. doesn’t it seem reasonable that Justin can be better than BJ is right now in four years?

by Sky Kalkman on Aug 31, 2008 11:46 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

im very impressed with justin

he started out extremely hot and then pitchers were just blowing it past him and right now i believe he is injured but he is definetly going to be a star, better than bj? i dont know, i know bj is a speed demon, has a amazing eye at the plate and is a gold glove candidate. while i justin doesnt have bj’s speed, but has more power, it looks like both are totally different players and i wish that the rays had both of them! that would be cool, maybe we should trade for him this offseason lol

actually, Justin Upton might not be a bad trade target

what would the DBs demand? probably a whole heck of a lot.

i disagree that BJ is a gold glove candidate yet. above-average? yes.

Their demand for Justin would be astronomical I'd imagine.

He’s pretty much untouchable.

I doubt they would.

Not enough. We'd have to add something else.

J-Up is more valuable than Price.

a show on espn2

they usually talk about a player or sport story and they have a round table debate about it and david price is going to be one of their stories tomorrow and they showed part of the preview a couple of days ago and he said that he expects to pitch a perfect game every game, i missed last weeks show where they talked about how stu sternberg turned this franchise around, anyone watch it?
