Say what you want about Sonny. But all the guy does is win, win, win. He is 16-8 dating back to last August 15th. We all talk of moving him or Jackson to the pen, and I know I talk bad about some his stats sometimes, but their is no way imo that we put Sonnanstine in the pen. Let him start and watch him win.

edwin is better than sonny this year and those wins dont really reflect how he pitches
sonny is effective but he pitches to contact too much and just ask livan how he lost his job after going 10-8, well because he pitched to too much contact and was on pace to give up over 300 hits, edwin is a totally different pitcher than he was last year and i am starting to believe he is turning a corner in his career this year and finally pitching like the guy who has a big time prospect with the dodgers, where sonny’s future is in the pen which isnt a bad thing since he pitches from so many different angles and i think that price is going to replace sonny either some time in the next couple of weeks or next year either way

I agree
Except I think one of their long-term futures may be as off-season trade bait for some offensive help. If they both continue to pitch like this, their value will likely never be higher, and they will have both ‘earned the right’ to be a starter somewhere. With all the guys we have in the minors, it may be misusing our resources to convert either of them to a relief role.

jackson's striking out 5.1 per 9 innings, sonnanstine's at 5.5
So how is Sonnanstine pitching to contact more? (Not that it matters. Contact is good, as long as it’s not a HR—the Rays’ defense will suck up batted balls and turn them into out.)
Sonny’s also walking only 1.6 per 9 innings versus 3.8 for Jackson.

I respect your opinion and agree that Jackson may be turning the corner too. But I said that about EJax since we traded for him. He is consistently inconsistent. He also went 9-11 in the same span as Sonny.
I know this is old hat, but Price will be called up soon. And even if he is put in the pen, he will start sooner or later and either Sonny/Jackson will be the casualty.

DEPTH MATTERS NOW!
Sonnanstine is the winningest 5th starter in the league. Depth is great. However in a must win short series your front 3 starters matter most. We have been blessed with both.
