I Take Back The Lazy Comment - At Least For A Day
What a great crowd and a great show put on by the Rays. We had absolutely a great time, sat around some very passionate fans and in no way were those folks lazy. The group in front of us treated my kids as if they were part of their family.
I am not saying that I am a better fan than the locals. I have lived in South Carolina for 4 years now after living the previous 10 in Lutz. Believe me, when I was living up there it was hard to get to the park for pathetic teams. I am just saying, when something great is going on, I wish the folks from Tampa would drive over instead of watching it on TV.

Long-time lurker here
Sick of the attendance topic, but I was just curious if anyone actually had any data to support the notion that people from Tampa “don’t drive over the bridge.”
As a Tampa resident who attended his 39th game of the season last night, this statement really irks me……as I’m fairly sure it’s false.
great blog btw guys…..I really enjoy the content here.

We speculate, but I don't think anybody has any proof other than the Rays.
But the most vocal of those who generate excuses for not going to games are those from New Tampa.
I lived north of USF Tampa (which is almost New Tampa) and drove three times a week to St. Petersburg to go to school while making $25,000 a year for five months a couple years back, so I don’t buy the time-management argument for a second. If you’re leaving your house at 6, you can get there by 7.
Financially though, that’s a little different, a round trip from up there is close to 70 miles, and I bought a motorcycle when gas had just gotten north of $2 a gallon to save money over my 4-cylinder car. If I were still making that drive at $3.50 a gallon, I have no idea how much financial hell I’d be in.
