Yes, that is 15 more walks than strikeouts.  You could take their K/BB ratios, add them together, and you still wouldn't get a K/BB of 2.00.

let's say Gomes gets hot and we could trade him

would we want to? what would be a reasonable return?

personally, i just don’t see the Rays getting anything useful back, and I still believe in Gomes bat being useful.

he was useful last year (105 OPS+)

and he’s only been poor for 166 PAs this year. and while his AVG sucks, his OBP and SLG don’t suck as much (.289, .392).

We'd have to pass him through waivers first

since he’s still on the 40-man roster.

So its not impossible that we could trade him, but I highly doubt anything could get worked out.

No one is saying Girltalk is the 1st, but he's the best currently.

Also, can’t respect Kid Koala when all his best stuff is a product of Dan the Automator (Handsome Boy, Deltron etc)

Endtroducing a fine album (though not something I could listen too repeatedly), but he never really had anything too compelling after that IMO

I think we'll be fine.

Its just that we did the same thing against Matt Ginter last month and he absolutely owned us…

I don’t like that a pitcher doesn’t have to make much of an adjustment for 6 batters in a row.

“It’s definitely a bummer,’’ Gomes said. “I went this last year but it’s a little bit differnt this year; I’ve got 140 at-bats at this point so not a whole lot of upside to this season for me as of right now. I’ve always said no matter where I go, whatever, I just want to play baseball. Money’s great and everything, but there’s an upside to this, too, I can go play baseball everyday. And to tell you the truth I’m really excited about it.’‘

Gomes said he had an idea the move was coming with OF Rocco Baldelli returning, and figures he could be back in September when rosters expand. He also said he hopes to one day get the chance to play everyday in the big leagues, and that he thought he was going to get that chance this season.

“The first time it caught me by surprise that I wasn’t going to be playing was opening day,’’ Gomes said. “I was told I was going to spend a lot of time in rightfield, all the way to the last day of spring training on the flight to Baltimore, I was going to get the majority of the time in rightfield. I was real surprised since day one when I wasn’t in the lineup opening day. So when it rains it pours.’‘

Perhaps if he felt this way he could spend a bit more time in the batting cages?

Or getting someone to throw breaking balls at him so he can figure out what they look like and why they are different from fastballs?
