Nationals place Elijah Dukes on DL

It appears that Dukes is a bit injury prone, along with being crazy

per the Associated Press

The Washington Nationals put outfielder Elijah Dukes on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain Thursday and recalled right-handed pitcher Garrett Mock from Triple-A Columbus.

The move with Dukes was retroactive to Sunday.

Dukes was previously on the DL twice this season with injuries to his right hamstring and knee. He is batting .264 with six homers and 23 RBIs in 54 games.

Dukes was picking it up both times

just before he was DLed. After an awful start, he began hitting and hitting for power, then got hurt. When he returned, he picked up right where he left off but got hurt again. I don’t think he had been injury prone to that point.

Never doubted his talent

As long as he keeps himself out of trouble off the field, he could really help them out, and they REALLY need help. The Nats look like the 2002 Devil Rays, and that is by no means a compliment.

I liked Dukes

Who’d we get for him again?

Glenn Gibson

He’s been awesome so far…as long as you’re an opposing hitter.

Gibson did nicely last year in very limited exposure

and at a young age but has been awful this year. He is still young and may figure it out. The scouting reports have praised his maturity and his curve ball. Most likely he never rises above low A, but there is a chance, and given the Dukes situation here, that was about as much as anyone could hope. I think at the time of the deal, Gibson was the #4 prospect in the Washington organization-or was it #7?
