Doh, September pressure!
Nice work John Romano! The Rays have lost the fighting spirit!
" For much of the year, the Rays looked like improbable contenders. And now, at the most critical moment, they are playing that way.
They insist it is not the pressure of being in first place that is making them lose.
We'll soon find out if that is true, because they won't have that pressure much longer. "

John Romano is like that friend that's never having a good day.
No matter what the guy will find something to complain about. That friend is usually alone and loves to revel in the misery of others. Schadenfreude is their only chance for a smile. Truly sad to see these people trudge through life never seeing the beauty of simply being able to wake up everyday for the better part of this season and see our team in first place. A position they had previously never occupied later than the 3rd week of the season. It really sucks being 29 games over .500 after coming into this year never more than 7.
John, turn that frown upside down. Head on down to your local brewhaus and toss a couple back and watch something that truly puts a smile on my face everyday. Without the Rays I might care about the months straight of rain, another election in which it is hard to see any good in America’s most vocal contingents, a tough Buccaneer loss, our economy being in the tank, the American dollar being worth less than at any other point in my lifetime, unemployment rates in our state that are 2% higher than a year ago, the fact that we are still embroiled in a conflict designed to enrich a handful or people at the expense of the populous, the fact that everywhere I look I see slick sharks in suits devising ways to separate me from my hard earned money.
NO sir I have the Rays that allow me to escape to a world where anything can happen. Where we can face unbeatable odds and march on carrying our walking wounded as if we were the last brave men of Pickett’s Charge. Where my emotional investment is paid off night-after-night after years of tortuous indifference at baseball in September, let alone GASP baseball in October.
To the Rays I say THANK YOU for allowing me to have hope in all that is decent in the world. To those with doubt in their heart, who make an easy living casting that doubt into the hearts of others, I say CUT THIS SHIT OUT. Your cancerous words rekindle the thought that there is good and evil in the world and that if good does not stand up to your heresy the light could be extinguished forever.
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
