Didn't want to bring this up while your heads were in Boston

But we've got a championship tussle continuing in your second home in Durham tonight.

I know you've all got your eyes on the big prize - but for now your guys are enjoying the splendors of the Big Apple on a day off. And what an offday day to spend there - Sept. 11. Something none of us will ever forget.

But since there's no MLB for either of us, we turn our eyes to the battle for the International League championship. Tonight's matchup - big Jeff Niemann vs. the highest paid player in AAA, Kei Igawa. The Bulls are on their last legs after dropping 2 exciting games in beautiful Scranton PA.

Should the Bulls improbably survive - I'm expecting your overrated starter to go down in flames after an Igawa kamikaze attack - the Yanks will counter top prospect Wade Davis (not so overrated) with their young but this year disappointing stud Phil Hughes. A game 5 could get ugly. The Rays will throw Mr. TBD vs the hero of all good Rays fans everywhere - Victor Zambrano. Yes, that Victor Zambrano. The gift that keeps on giving!

Good stuff in Durham. Plus Shelly Duncan and Jonny Gomes on the same field! How can you not watch that!

Day late

but your wish is our command.

I didn’t get to watch – what happened to Davis? 6 BB in 2 IP.

From the stats Hughes must have been somewhat impressive – Kaz like, I’d posit. Ton of K’s, 5 IP. I’m hoping the Yanks call Hughes and Kennedy up and ditch Ponson and Pavano. May as well give them some more majors time.

So who goes up and gets used? Clearly Price, then Niemann and Talbot I assume. Johnson gets called I assume.

He was sick. Shouldn't have started in the first place.

Apparently he had been treated for the flu and had a fever around gametime but wanted to pitch.

Hah! Amazing the change.

A good matchup tomorrow, unfortunately it’s the one in AAA. Hughes vs Davis. Worth watching.

I was actually hoping the Yanks could win tonight so they could call up Hughes to start in NY and spare me the embarrassment of watching Sir Sidney again. I can’t believe this season has come to this kind of thinking.

Oh well – you guys have fun. Hope your guys don’t pass out from running the bases early on in the big city.

I think we can survive the weekend without Price, Niemann, ect.

It’s pretty lame to root against the Bulls if you ask me. Winning the WS and the Governor’s Cup in the same year would be pretty damned cool.
