Blue Jays wild card winners?
They Jays have been playing some great ball as of late and are 9-1 in there last 10 games. And that is against 3 good teams, the white soxs, Twins, and us. They have 7 games agains Boston and 6 against Baltimore with a 3 game set at home against New York. Does anyone think its possible for the Jays to take the Wild Card?

That thought scares me.
With the way the Jays pitch, they could be deadly in a five-game match.

We wouldn’t ahve to face them in the first round no matter what.

Both of you are right
The team with the best record in the division cannot face the wild-card (who is always considered the 4th seed regardless of record) in the first round if the wild-card team plays in the same division. So assuming the playoffs started today, the Rays would face the ChiSox and the Angels would play the BoSox.
At the same time, no way in hell do I want to see the Rays face the Jays if they keep playing the way they are. This team got real good real fast.

it could be a real possibility that the yankee$ finish in last place next year
boston and tampa are the top teams, toronto right behind, baltimore is young and full of talent and the yankees are old and stupid, but we will have to see what this offseason brings to see who finishes where
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!

The deciding factor will be this weekend in Boston.
They either stay hot and kick some Red Sox ass or they’re done. I’m hoping they kick red Sox ass and boot the pansie asses from NE out of the playoffs. If it weren’t for the Jays being decimated with injury, I thought they were the best all around team prior to the start of the 08’ season in the East.
Then again, I thought Seattle would challenge for the West and the Tigers would win the series.

If you make it a fanshot you don't need all the filler
I called this weeks ago, but I think it is too little, too late. They would have to take 6/7 from Boston (5 games there) and probably sweep Yanks and O’s. It can be done (Rockies last season), but I think they will run out of time. How about they beat up the Red Sox so that neither team advances and we lay down against Min so the 2 ALC teams move on?

this style post is more a fanpost, although the word requirement suggests the author should present a bit more information before posting
The Jays are currently 6.5 games out of the WC. Obviously taking all seven games from Boston would be huge. Winning 6/7 leaves them 1.5 games back for the other games. Winning “only” 5/7 leaves them 3.5 games back, which is probably too much. They “need” to take six games.
And I’m rooting for them, not really because I’m against the Red Sox, but because I respect the job Ricciardi has done assembling a sweet rotation, no-name bullpen, and guys who can field. Plus, who doesn’t love comeback drama?
