Armegeddon a win tonight?
Is it just me, or is the media's reaction to last night's game just a total blow-out agaisnt the Rays? I mean you read these stories about the how the Rays just completly melted down, and how the Trop was full of Red Sox fans and it wasn't even sold out. "Choke! Choke!" If you just read these articles, it seems like Armageddon over just one game. Already they forget we won 2 games in Boston just last week. But on no, it's now how much Boston owns Tampa Bay. The Rays haven't been playing their best ball of late....but still tied for 1st....in the AL East....and are now home after a very difficult road trip.
I know most of us are tired of hearing about the lack of attendence, and I guess I am just sick of it, and need to blow-off some steam. The attendence is what it is. Is it disapointing? Yes, of course, but it is much better then it ever has been. I will say that Stu seems to be taking it very well, and is being patient. I think he is right to say next season will be the real test. Some people are saying we don't deserve this team, I think that jumps the gun. The Rays have more fans in more places, buying more merch then ever, and that is a good start. Most of the teams that sell-out are usually teams that have been around for say, I don't know 100 years or so? Have a World Series ring or two or at least multiple pennents? Couple Hall-of-Famers? Teams that have a lot of tradition, something we don't have much of yet, but are gaining. My point is that it takes some time, the management is satisfied for the moment, so let's just enjoy the ride, and hopefully a taste of October baseball.
On a different note, I think Stu has done well in the promotionals at the Trop, but if I had one suggestion: Bring back College Dollar Beer Night. Heck, make it Dollar Beer night for Everybody. This used to take place on Friday night home games....but I say spread it to Saturdays as well, even all games against Boston and New York. It would really be lively then.
To the Division Title!

I agree with you that the media is blowing this game out of peroition.
I think they, being the media, have been waiting for the other shoe to fall for the Rays for some time. So, here is a good opportunity for the media to harp on the Rays, but they did the same thing last week in Boston. Rays lost game one, and see what happened? Gammons and most of the ESPN pundants came out saying this was the series where the Rays fall and Red Sox pull ahead for good. The truth is the Rays have not been leading the East for over half the season but just luck. they are good team will put it together.

Gammons is the king of the country of Bostonia.
His bias is unmatched in all of sports.
This isn’t meant to be funny, it’s a fact.

Gammons and the word "bias" are like oil and water.
I am kidding, of course.

It's not just Gammons, it's ESPN as a whole.
Many of their reporters/anchors are admittedly big Red Sox fans.
