Fernie needs to take all of Zobrist's OF playing time.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 2, 2008 5:22 PM EDT up reply actions
I too can't wait to see The Genius play
But, I do feel that statement is bold. Zobrist has played very well for guy who has never played the outfield. Definitely Perez is a guy who will pinch run for:
Navi,
Floyd,
Hinske in game winning situations… am I forgetting anyone?

Fernando should be a better defender.
Offensively I doubt we feel the effects of going from Zobrist to Fernie.

I agree.
Definitely if BJ needs a break, I can see that coming soon, the Genius can play CF… go Fernando go!

I thought they could maybe get 2nd place at best. But, I love the fact I am wrong!

I have three basic rules
1- Throw strike one
2- Get the 1st man out
3- Win Game of a series
Lets try to get to Moose early
I would love to have to make the Yanks use their bullpen tonight with Pavano going tomorrow.
Too bad we struggle mightily against the Moose
Hopefully, we get good Garza and keeps it close till Marte blows it.
and I want $1 million a year but you know what...
Seriously folks, I don’t see the love affair with Johnson. On the grounds of he is not that mobile, he can only really play 1B. yes, I know he was playing a little in RF, I know that. But, he is just no used to how this team plays ball. If he was a right handed hitter, then yes, i would be for it. But, I don’t get it.

I personally rank Hinkse with Gomes in terms of mobility. They are two guy that give there soul to the game, just not so pretty when it comes so of their routes to the ball.

Dur
Yankees game, I can watch on TV. I was all disappointed when I tried to sign into MLB.tv and it said I was blacked out.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
living in NY has finally gotten me something
although I hate the Yankee announcers, who love to talk about our attendance problems and how we are not experienced if we make the playoffs
Living in Boston
means I have to deal with all kinds of bullshit from the sox, but at least all my games are on
add another annoying subject from the Yankee announcers
First the attendance then the inexperience and now how Upton doesnt hustle
and that was NOT a strike.
omg
he is calling everything a strike, might as well throw it in the dirt
BRING IN HAMMEL HE WILL GET 3 PITCH K’S
So what Dewayne is saying is that Carlos focused on processes and not results?
Holy fucking shit I love Carlos.
this could be a tough and tight ball game.

thats funny because they were just bitching about how he plays too shallow then he robs it off the wall
fuck you yankee announcers
Yankee's announcers:
“One of the best plays you’ll ever see from an outfielder”
A bit of hyperbole, but not bad considering the source.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
they were just insulting him
I guess they wanted to say something really nice because they felt retarded
you guys remember when he couldnt get to the bigs because his defense
was too terrible?
what a genius move it turned out to be making him a CF
He should have made a basket catch.
He’s lazy, that’s all.
Nady should be on the other side
but this doesnt depress me nearly as much as seeing Bay face us will
Calls even go against the Rays in Boston-Orioles game
Umpire just blew a call at plate in first inning of O’s-Sox game…
Sac fly. Runner slides around Varitek and clearly touches plate with hand well before the tag. Ump ruled he never touched the plate because he was in such a horrible position (behind Varitek towards first base dugout) he couldnt see the plate.
I would prefer to call it Boston Dick Sucking.

I thought it was retarded when I first heard it but hes 9-0 with an ERA around 1.40 and he keeps throwing shutouts, not to mention how much better the Brewers have gotten with him. Also, doesn’t hurt that Webb seems to have a dead arm and is getting killed again

It's okay if the Tigers can make close on these bums
we can pull out a win. Come on Garza!

"Hard to believe Damon could get to home on a ball to the shortstop."
- Joe Magrane, if he weren’t biased.
I've watched it 3 times now. Upton was playing straight away, directly behind the sun, but shallow. He busted it to the wall.
Damon is just pretty fast. Hinske…well, he moved 3 steps. Literally, 3. And watched the play from his position, only 3 steps to his left.

They have better pitching.
"Veteran team"
Stop it. Goddammit stop it right fucking now.

True
Jeter, A-Rod, Abreu, Matsui, Mussina, Pettite, Damon, Giambi
They aren’t going down to the Rays without a fight.
Saying good players > saying bullshit like "Veteran team"
The fucking Giants aren’t going to make the playoffs, are they?

damn you are right
2009 is our year, its over guys!
Time to play the kids.
Sternfan are you serious with this shit?
This should have been a good match up
Now i see a Yankee sweep
Well blame this game on Foley
He keeps screwing up at 3rd. I swear to god I haven’t seen so many blunders..This year we’ve run through a few stop signs and still scored. Perhaps that should be a sign to him that he is being way too conservative.
They both screwed up
It was an easy run and Foley screwed that up. Hinske needs to watch and cannot assume the 3rd base coach will be competent.
There were two different actions
Foley not sending Aybar when he should have sent him and Hinske not paying attention.
Aybar WOULD have scored. Quite easily. Foley fucked that up.
You mean he has the ugliest swing of all time
It can be effective, but I am amazed he ever makes contact. And when he makes contact I’m amazed the ball can travel 5 feet.
Can we have a new thread?
Just for the change of pace.
This one has become very horrible and depressing.
depressing?
We have more innings left. I say keep this thread. We tough it out.

Every loss sends people to panic mode.

that ball was at the knees it was good call.
It sucks donkey dick, but it was a good call. On a similar subject is the strike call chest a dying call or what?

at the knees... it's a strike...
I love the Rays tremedously, but I would rather win a fair game then win on a bad call (White Sox).

That call is never called on breaking pitches...
It should be, but NEVER is. It was an awful call. It was even borderline the way to are calling it. Might have been a hair below the knees as it crossed. The point is, it is NEVER called.
I don't know man, it looked good to me.
Let’s not dwell on that call and hope the Rays can pull this thing out.
