8th or 9th, depending on what they wanna do with Nando
If Hinske is starting (dumb) then Barty will probably hit 9th. If its Nando, Barty will probably hit 8th.

Ugh
In the NY market, Fox is playing Brewers-Reds, which means I’m blacked out. Because, obviously, it’s much more important to show a game between a team struggling to stay in the wild card race and a team that’s been out of the playoffs for months than a game between a team actually in the wild card race and a team fighting for division supremacy.

I just think this is one of the most unlikely events in baseball history… a team whose previous highlight was The Rookie can clinch a playoff spot.

I didn't say you were a Yankees fan.
I said you should tell that to the Yankees fans in Tampa. This topic has been beaten to death. Attendance jumps occur the year AFTER respectability, not the year of.

I know the attendance jumps the year after
I remember in 1996 Yankee Stadium would be empty
But this particular game should be a watershed moment for the franchise
Glad to hear it is sold out

I grew up playing ball.. Played at a high level for years. .. Its a million times better for players / and as a fan to be in the elements.
If the games were outside, you would have a hell of a lot less old people with cowbells, and more younger people chanting and screaming (like fans do). It just makes for a better experience as a fan.

The problem with your opinion isn't what you're saying
It’s how you’re saying it. You’re presenting all of these off the wall theories as facts which make them sound stupid. What evidence do you have to back any of this up? Your personal experience ‘playing ball’?
Listen, most people here agree that outside baseball is better, but none of us are trying to say that it’s going to make the team better, or the fans better, or improve offense or whatever. There’s no proof any of that is going to happen.

The proposed park would've been excellent.
Frankly I don’t care if we’re inside or outside, I’m going to enjoy the game. If there’s a nice view, great, but even the dome has its perks. If crowd noise is a positive thing you should actually KEEP the Trop since it would hold noise better than an outside park.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Trop would be far louder than it is with younger fans. (IMO) younger fans bring energy / Chants/ more drinking. Less Cowbell.
The dome makes for a comfortable pleasent environment for which elderly can go and spend the day.
The proposed park was excellent I agree. But ST. Wont buy it because the median age wont vote for it because it may be uncomfortable.

Got stuck on 275.
Arrived at game in 3rd inning after very long walk up to Trop.
Left game in 7th inning to prevent same issue on way back.

Tear out the NYY Spring Training fields on MLK and Columbus. Build it next to Ray Jay. .I don’t care.. Just don’t put in in a retirement community in BFE.

Here's what you did wrong
Took 275 instead of CC/Bayside bridge

Left in the 7th inning instead of the 9th
Spent $200 on your ticket.

That makes more sense.
But you still messed up trying to take 275 over there, especially during a Yankee game. EVERYONE takes 275. CC/Bayside to US19 is a faster drive by about 20 minutes, even though it’s about 15 miles longer.

Take a look in the parking lot before the game
You’ll see TONS of high school kids tailgating, not to mention the college/mid20’s crowd.

In other news
That relay throw died so bad. Also a great illustration as to how much better Upton’s arm is than Perez. Upton throws that ball to Navarro without a hop.
by kericr on Sep 20, 2008 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Zobrist's arm is better than Nando's.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 5:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
In a strange sense, I think that his bad arm helped out that inning.
Kaz doesn’t intercept that throw if it comes from Upton. No way of knowing whether or not the Twins score, but for certain there isn’t a double-play out of that.

Good point.
I kinda miss Upton’s long arm of the law though.
