Same as yesterday.
Iwamura 2B
Bartlett SS
Pena 1B
Longoria 3B
Floyd DH
Navarro C
Gross RF
Hinske LF
Perez CF
8th or 9th, depending on what they wanna do with Nando
If Hinske is starting (dumb) then Barty will probably hit 9th. If its Nando, Barty will probably hit 8th.
Ugh I miss BJ

Ugh
In the NY market, Fox is playing Brewers-Reds, which means I’m blacked out. Because, obviously, it’s much more important to show a game between a team struggling to stay in the wild card race and a team that’s been out of the playoffs for months than a game between a team actually in the wild card race and a team fighting for division supremacy.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
RAYS FANS
There had better not be an empty seat in the house today
Seriously… as I wrote, it would be a disgrace.
Pack that place
It's sold out......
at least from what my Dad heard who just called.

The people on this site aren’t the ones you should be telling this to. It’s the transplants who still think the Yankees are good.

Stuart, I like you….you’re not like those other guys here in the trailer park.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
I'm no Yankee fan
I just think this is one of the most unlikely events in baseball history… a team whose previous highlight was The Rookie can clinch a playoff spot.
Hell, if I weren’t in California, I’D buy a ticket!

I didn't say you were a Yankees fan.
I said you should tell that to the Yankees fans in Tampa. This topic has been beaten to death. Attendance jumps occur the year AFTER respectability, not the year of.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions
I know the attendance jumps the year after
I remember in 1996 Yankee Stadium would be empty
But this particular game should be a watershed moment for the franchise
Glad to hear it is sold out
The Rays could be in the next decade what the Orioles were in the 70s and 80s

I'll be there! Playoffs, here we come!

5-3 now
A Jays win would nice. Tomorrow, Toronto has Scott Richmond starting so that’s very likely a Sox win. Then Boston finishes with seven home games while the Rays are on the road.
Heading out to the game in a few minutes.
Let’s go Rays, and hope that the Sox get beaten easily by the Jays.
Eric Karros just said Alexei Ramirez is the MVP because he's played the entire year.
Ramirez has played in 14 more games than Evan.
Luckily he doesn't have a vote.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
here we go!
fellas….let today be the day we have all waited for. Tomorrow, after we recover from massive hang-overs, let us move on to the Division Title!
While we wait we can watch the thrashing that is UF-TENN. 10-0 UF already with 7 to go in the first.
Matt Guerrier is awful. Who's doing our lineups?
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

Mind if I get WAY ahead of myself?
And ask for his 2nd ever CG so he can throw the clinching pitch?
damnit, a walk
He had a 2 hit CGSO vs Boston before.

That or he’s just a shitty head coach.

HEY THATS JUST INSENSITIVE
You know when he gets fired they’re going to bring up race…
My Razorbacks are horribly bad.
Arkansas defense vs. Miss State offense will be epic pathetic.
I’m indifferent towards Croom. Ever been to Starkville? Could any non-cheating football coach build a winner there?
Arkansas v. LSU two years ago was one of my most memorable games to watch.
Russell v. McFadden/Jones.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions
The last two years were a lot of fun.
Too bad so many “fans” and boosters spent much of it trying to fire the coach by any means available.
The next couple of years will be very painful and I almost don’t feel bad about it.
The answer to that is no.
Starkville sucks.
But hey, go Rays!
I'll shut up lest you ban me like you banned butthol.

goddamnit navarro how can you not get a double on a ball to the corner down the right field line?

I love how they lead the Bucs promo with Galloway.
Being that he’s out and all.
At least D-Jax gets a shot.
It's hard for me to watch the Bucs now. I hate Jon Gruden so much.
Imagine if we still had Dungy…
Graham is 7th in AVG rushing yards per game
Yet he gets 12.5 carries per game. Only McFadden gets less than 18 per game (that are ahead of Graham) and he stills get 15.

If that's the case then why do we have 91 wins?
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 5:06 PM EDT up reply actions
I grew up playing ball.. Played at a high level for years. .. Its a million times better for players / and as a fan to be in the elements.
If the games were outside, you would have a hell of a lot less old people with cowbells, and more younger people chanting and screaming (like fans do). It just makes for a better experience as a fan.
Being outside doesn't automatically make more young people show up.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions
The problem with your opinion isn't what you're saying
It’s how you’re saying it. You’re presenting all of these off the wall theories as facts which make them sound stupid. What evidence do you have to back any of this up? Your personal experience ‘playing ball’?
Listen, most people here agree that outside baseball is better, but none of us are trying to say that it’s going to make the team better, or the fans better, or improve offense or whatever. There’s no proof any of that is going to happen.
The proposed park would've been excellent.
Frankly I don’t care if we’re inside or outside, I’m going to enjoy the game. If there’s a nice view, great, but even the dome has its perks. If crowd noise is a positive thing you should actually KEEP the Trop since it would hold noise better than an outside park.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions
Trop would be far louder than it is with younger fans. (IMO) younger fans bring energy / Chants/ more drinking. Less Cowbell.
The dome makes for a comfortable pleasent environment for which elderly can go and spend the day.
The proposed park was excellent I agree. But ST. Wont buy it because the median age wont vote for it because it may be uncomfortable.
I went to one re cently and here is how it went. I live in New Tampa/tampa Palms.
Left at 5:30 for a 7:00 game vs Yankees.
Got stuck on 275.
Arrived at game in 3rd inning after very long walk up to Trop.
Left game in 7th inning to prevent same issue on way back.
Saw 5 innings of games for 200.00 worth tickets.
Wont go back. I love the team!
Reason why we should build a new stade in tampa:
You do not know when to leave for games.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
5:30 for a 7:15 start should be sufficient. I mean damn.. What If I wanted season tix? Not to mension its like 30+ miles each way.. Truth is only St. Pete residents want the team in St. Pete.
Tear out the NYY Spring Training fields on MLK and Columbus. Build it next to Ray Jay. .I don’t care.. Just don’t put in in a retirement community in BFE.
Tampa is the draw.
This is hilarious dude, It's only your personal convenience. People WILL show up.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
"Only St. Pete residents want the team in St. Pete"
I don’t live in St. Pete or near it, but couldn’t you just as easily replace St. Pete with Tampa?
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 5:36 PM EDT up reply actions
Here's what you did wrong
Took 275 instead of CC/Bayside bridge
Looked for parking up close
Left in the 7th inning instead of the 9th
Spent $200 on your ticket.
That makes more sense.
But you still messed up trying to take 275 over there, especially during a Yankee game. EVERYONE takes 275. CC/Bayside to US19 is a faster drive by about 20 minutes, even though it’s about 15 miles longer.
St. petersburg is filled with old people. That isn't a hilarious generalization or anything
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Take a look in the parking lot before the game
You’ll see TONS of high school kids tailgating, not to mention the college/mid20’s crowd.
31 homers and 98 rbis with 9(and the rest of this one) games to go
for 8 million = another genius move from the Rays
Kazmir's control is complete crap
stop falling behind hitters. Sheesh.

Yes, we really do have fans.
In other news
That relay throw died so bad. Also a great illustration as to how much better Upton’s arm is than Perez. Upton throws that ball to Navarro without a hop.
I think Zobrist's arm is better than Nando's.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 20, 2008 5:13 PM EDT up reply actions
In a strange sense, I think that his bad arm helped out that inning.
Kaz doesn’t intercept that throw if it comes from Upton. No way of knowing whether or not the Twins score, but for certain there isn’t a double-play out of that.
Good point.
I kinda miss Upton’s long arm of the law though.

Peña is freakin locked in.
Far from the Peña we saw earlier in the year
Boston lost as well. This could turn out to be a good day .Lets hope B'More gives the same effort as last time we played them.
I think we owe B’More a bean ball.
