Notes:

  • A .500 or better road trip would be ideal.
  • A sweep of the Tuesday doubleheader would be cool.
  • Likely Scenario of Red Sox W-L:

Cleveland Series: Beckett start is a win, Indians win with Lee, and Carmona can beat Paul Byrd then a Lester win.

Yankees Series: Yanks scrap and beat Dice-K with Pettite(Toss up, really). Beckett Wins, Tim Wakefield blows it.

5-2 or 4-3 or 3-4

  • Which means...Rays would like to:

Orioles Series: Win with David Price Monday. Win 2 of the next 3 against pitchers with tRAs over 5, and one making his first start.

Detroit Series: Kazmir vs. Galarraga = Kazmir

Give Sonny a loss against the home run hitting tigers.

Not sure if Garza or Price starts the last game, maybe Niemman to give them both rest? I'll put it as a tie then. .

4-4 or 5-3 or 6-2

We'll go with 5-3.

  • Prediction: RAYS WIN!!!!!!!!

It's official

Guthrie will be missing his start on Tuesday. You guys got the doubleheader sweep locked up…

I’m trying to figure this all out and I think i have: Even if the Sox lose every game up to and including Tuesday, and even if the Rays win all three, the division couldn’t be clinched until at least the next day?

Damn I have to stop buying my tickets ahead of time…

Gutherie has been pulled again

It will be Olson and Simon for the doubleheader.

Watching the game yesterday, I was thinking we could actually breathe easy if the Rays could pull off the win, and it looked promising until the nightmare 4th inning happened. So now I expect nothing less than a fight to the wire for the AL East title. I’m expecting Boston to do no worse than 5-2 at home and no clue what the Rays will do.

5 and 3

should be enough to win the division, only way Boston could win it is win every game which is unlikely with Cleveland and New York as the opponents.
