Go Rays !

Im a Royals fan who just bought my authentic Rays cap and Longoria T-shirt... ive been on this bandwagon since after the first month.. Love the rays and plus... us smaller market teams have to stick together :)... You need a better closer though.. hopefully percival can get it together.. if not.. you wanna borrow Soria from us for just the playoffs and ONLY the playoffs :) GO RAYS!!

I would take Soria for Niemann and Mitch

A strong bullpen should be the last component to building a solid team.

If you can’t hit or pitch consistently what is the point in having a dynamite closer when you could spin him off for more necessary parts? I agree that he has untouchable talent, on just about any other team. I mean do you really want Jose Guillen in a starting capacity next season? I would trade Soria to the highest bidder and laugh all the way to the bank.

Soria is starter material also

they arent completely set on using him as a closer.. he has started before in the winter leagues and actually pitched a perfect game.. even though it means nothing

ugh.

In that case do what you gotta do.

If he translates well a rotation of Greinke, Soria, Hochevor (once he figures some stuff out), and good Bannister is not too shabby at all.

nope not at all..

thats why im hoping we sign a cheep viable option at closer like Fuentes and move soria to the rotation..

ugh.

Fuentes will not be cheap, plus if he is Type A you're gonna lose a pick.

Last I saw he was a top-5 closer via tRA for what that is worth. I still think closer is a low priority until you are knocking on the door because of the supreme inflation at that position. I like Aviles and Gordon, but thats about the only scares in that lineup. I think you guys need to focus on getting guys that have all-around good skills even if that means the guys you target are not powerhouses. I would have to look at Mark Ellis, Kevin Millar, and 1-2 of Brian Giles/Mike Cameron/Garrett Anderson of OF/spot DH. I would think about bringing in Scott Downs as an inexpensive closer option. That infield defense would be pretty nice and allow you to get Soria in the rotation. Obviously, you know more about your team than I do so some of this might be tripe, but I would love to hear your thoughts.

Word on the street is

Dayton Moore will pursue Rafael Furcal hard this winter…

With hopes of landing Ibanez also. which is more far fetched

ugh.

What about the Francouer rumors?

Also Ibanez better be the DH, otherwise lord help your pitchers.

Go Ka'aihue!

I will say with pitchers like Greinke and Soria (and Cortes and Rosa, if healthy, in the upper minors along with hitters like Moustakas and Hosmer in the lower minors), they are probably closer to contention than say the Pirates, for example, but my confidence in their ability to fill in the spaces around that foundation is lacking.
