That one ca gives military brats a bad name.

But now I think about it. My brother has strange loyalties. He likes the Chicago Bulls in basketball, 49ers in football, he casually watches hockey rooting for the Lightning, he graduated from Florida and only rooted for teams Jose Canseco played for. Thus the life of a military brat I suppose.

I like Joe Maddon's thoughts on having to play a Night game then a day game.
It’s just pretty poor planning. You can’t slice it any other way," Joe Maddon said this morning. "I’m not going to sit here and agree with what was done. I’m sure it was planned in advance based on the previous reputation of the organization – that’s what I got. Because there’s no way the Yankees would be sitting here right now. … It’s just inappropriate."

Per Todd Kalas on the pregame show, he says that Rays bullpen is short handed because of the doubleheader.

All the more reason the Rays should have brought up Thayer! Just saying.

From Today's Keith Law Chat:

Chris (Dallas, TX): Jason Bartlett is the scrappiest scrap that ever scrapped. Kudos to the BBRAA!

SportsNation Keith Law: (1:04 PM ET ) I have a new word for players like him, whom the BBRAA praises in spite of obvious evidence that they’re not that good: scraptacular. I doubt I made this up, but I’ll claim it anyway.

Steve Phillips (AKA Ass Hole)

Rick from Los Angeles: How would the rest of the country enjoy a freeway series between the Angels and Dodgers? Or would it be another ratings drop like the Yanks-Mets in 01?

SportsNation Steve Phillips: The ratings would drop more significantly than the Subway Series. The Dodgers and Angels have a smaller fanbase in comparison to the Mets and Yankees. The numbers would definitely fall. It’s interesting, but I think a Red Sox-Cubs matchup is probably the most appealing, followed by a Sox-Mets rematch of 1986.

SportsNation Steve Phillips: I think that Sox-Dodgers would also be compelling, with Manny taking on his former club. That would really be interesting.

SportsNation Steve Phillips: The Angels, White Sox, and Rays just don’t seem to grab you the way that the Red Sox do.

From Keith Law:

Rytor (CT): Keith, my friend…true or false: the Rays will be a better team in 2009 than in 2008.

SportsNation Keith Law: (1:18 PM ET ) They might be a better team on paper, but they’ll very likely have a worse record, barring some major moves this winter.

Yeah at this rate I doubt we will even make the playoffs.

I'm not worried about todays game

But if Kaz plays against the White Sox, they’re going to destroy him

i went to the twins game yesterday and it looks like they might win the division

But in all seriousness

Can’t we just keep fouling it off at least so Gallaraga throws some pitches?

by joeybw on Sep 25, 2008 2:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed

we need a 10 pitch AB even if it is a strikeout

we look like when we faced Simon in Baltimore

I hope this game turns out the same way as that one

Simon's

numbers were useless to base him on because it was his first start

Hopefully it won't

so who would we rather face in the alds MN or CHI?

MN starting rotation would most likely be liriano, baker and slowey, but the twins bullpen is horrible.

CHisox starting rotation would most likely be vazquez, buerhle and floyd

He did this same thing against Boston

At what point does this become a major concern? I’m not worried about his future, but the post-season will be a problem if he doesn’t figure this out ASAP.

by staplemaniac on Sep 25, 2008 2:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Can't do much.

Might need rest. Otherwise he needs to keep his pitches down.

something is wrong with him this season

and I think it will be fixed in the offseason but sine he isn’t about to lose his job, hes gotta be the #3 in the playoffs, not the #1
