This is using your model that includes tRA, right?
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 5, 2008 6:02 PM EDT up reply actions
tRA and BaseRuns from statcorner.com and defensive +/- and park factors from hardballtimes.com
Also Pythaganpat from Baseball Prospectus for deriving win % from estimated runs scored…
Jays have an advantage in pitching and defense, but the Rays have the hitting advantage.
Carlos Quentin has a fractured right wrist and will undergo surgery Monday to insert a screw, the White Sox announced..
9 = 8
it's not a good sign for them
Twinkies’ rotation looks great right now… i love me some slowey. the sox are…old
Listen up, furries.
The game ends here. One of your compatriots just got boxed and I’ll continue doing it if I have to. This menace will be eradicated from this site.

Maybe it was my eradication of the furries.
Fine, I’ll relent. I will grant a reprieve for tastefully minimal amounts of furries.

Because individual numbers against individual pitchers mean nothing at all.
Be glad that you have a manager smart enough to know this.
oh god
is this the inning Sonny picked to suck in?
Even when he does well, he always has 1 horrid inning
K/BB ratio doesn't always work
to explain pitchers. Definitely the case with Sonny. Yeah, he doesn’t walk many. But his pitches come in way too straight, and he leaves too many meatballs over the plate.
He might make a decent pitcher in the NL someday. He just doesn’t have it to hang in the AL East
well we can hope
that was just the inning he picked to suck
its usually(not his last start…) only 1 inning where he looks like garbage
Sonnanstine's BAA is .294
He’s really not all that good, but he throws strikes and doesn’t walk hitters. He’s serviceable, but when you get ahead of Halladay 2-0, you have to do a better job of making that stand up.

Yes, we really do have fans.
I disagree
You’ll have the occasional unlucky hit, but over the course of the year you’ll have a lot more legitimate hits against you as a pitcher and unlucky ones. It’s no coincidence that most of the best pitchers in baseball history have a dominant BAA.
Sonny is just entireably too hittable. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. He leaves far too much up in the zone.

"Too hittable"
Yet has a lower LD% and HR rate than Jackson. Makes sense.

I know we're in a pennant race
but screw it. I want to see Jaso and Perez for a game.

you know Doc is over 60 pitches
If we could come back, we would be looking real good with Shields and Garza(likes the Jays) up next
damnit
stop swinging at garbage
our best chance is to make him work
i know they have a great pen but i dont care much about that when Halladay is pitching
well
Sonny and Jackson are just here to hold the spots for Price and Davis
cant exactly complain about their performances when that’s basically what they are there for
4-man rotation in playoffs
Jackson probably the 4th, not sure if the Rays wanna throw the youngsters in the playoffs
i would def want Jackson
he has been very good for a while now,his last start his line looked bad but thats because our defense was playing with concusions
definately Jackson
He has been one of our best road pitchers and had the worst luck the other night. He has better stuff than Sonny.
This thread pretty much points out why people think Ned Colletti is a good GM
RJ ANDERSON IS THE SECRET POLICE HALP.
Also, Jesus fucking christ, Do we really want to see Jackson in a high pressure situation against good offenses?
RJ ANDERSON IS THE SECRET POLICE HALP.
this should be Halladay'slast innung
can we get to is pen?
of course if we keep swinging 2-0, maybe he will pitch the 8th
BJ and blow don't go well together when we are talking about Upton....
by Cory Alexander on Sep 5, 2008 8:54 PM EDT up reply actions
great
we got a 2nd chance against Halladay
the pen pitches the 8th and 9th and I wouldnt expect a 3rd chance
Upton just needs to swing the bat
that’s simply inexcusable. Then again, why are you trying to squeeze home a run with a player that’s hit into one DP all year long?

asshole Sox are gaining too damn quick
if we cant beat Ryan it is looking like it will be 2.5 already
I liked his defense.
You know, like Barty.

Don't want it--but i seeit happening
Jays owe us big time
You don't want it, but yet you say it every fucking series.
Stop being a fucking attention whore.

hey, lets do this!
come on Aki, if you bunt, i am going to Toronto, and I am taking away any chance of you having children
BUNTING IS SO FUCKING DUMB RIGHT NOW.
WE’RE DOWN BY MULTIPLE RUNS AND YOU ARE CONCEIVING A STRIKE OR AN OUT. JESUS.
I emailed the same thing to future VP Palin
with the exception of the big arms… I left that one out.
I’m waiting for her response

We lost to a team that had their ace against our
4th/5th starter. Not a big concern.

Yes, we really do have fans.
Keep rationalizing that
all the way to 2nd place
You email me after you're boxed.
So apparently you.

Ultimately, the goal is to make the playoffs
So if the Rays finish in second place, so be it. It’ll be extremely difficult to hold off the Sox and while winning the East would be tremendous, I think we’d all take a playoff birth at this point.
