Why would you say that?
Cause i don’t suck them off for a job 1/2 complete?
Because you never say anything positive about any regard of this team.
The only time you have been relatively complementary is when Sternberg commented.

No, I'm right because I use logic and facts.

i think that plasticman is somehow related to sternfan
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
what?
thats even more proof that your somehow related to sternfan since you both type stuff that none of us understand
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
You're relatively new here.
I believe Sternfan is the only person (at least this year) who had an entire thread devoted to calling for his permanent ban. It took the thread half a day to get like 7 recs.
Red Sox fans have forgotten that nights like tonight are the rule, not the exception. All I asked for in March was meaningful games in September. So I thank this team for their job half complete, and take comfort in the fact that when it breaks right in the end, it’ll be all that much better for these last two weeks.

why are you ripping rocco?
you should just be happy that he is back, its really amazing what he has done since coming back in hitting 3 HRs already
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
I would have to agree with him on this one.
Against Papelbon already 0-3 with 3Ks I would have gone to Hinske. ( I know Maddon is a gut feeling guy but I have seen him pull Rocco for a lefty in a lot of situations and I don’t know why he didn’t this time. )
i didnt watch the game on gameday today so i didnt realize he let him bat against papelbum
i wouldve went with hinkse in that situation as well
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
It is all good
Rocco has been a huge blessing to this team, even the biggest optimist couldn’t have imagined him having the success he has had this season.
18 Innings without a run and counting
go away percival
have the rays won since stp changed his name to p brady?
its your fault, since you changed your name the rays haved decided to play like the old team name that they changed this offseason.
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
my vikings cant even beat the packers without brett favre
bad week in sports for me
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
ya thats true, but i thought that they would have a good chance against the packers with rodgers
they did have a great chance with about a min left, but tavaris jackson threw an interception to lose the game, he had no protection at all today
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
he is alright, but i thought that when they traded up in the second round, that they were going to draft brohm
qb has been a problem for the vikings for a long time now though, does sternfan have 2 screen names? i swear him and plasticman were seperated at birth
Evan Longoria=ROY. Andrew Friedman=Executive of the year. Joe Maddon=Manager of the year. David Price= the next best pitcher TB Rays fan 2002-the day i die!
also i wish they wouldve drafted colt brennan over john david booty
booty may be a good starter one day, but my man crush on colt maybe even more wierder than rj’s with bj, if thats possible lol

Sternfuck1
Now here’s a guy who really brings the sunshine to postgame recaps. Over the next two games, I hope the offense picks up, the Boston pitching sucks ass, and Sternfuck1’s recent bovine herpes attack clears up.
“I’m Jason Hammel of the Tampa Bay Rays. I can’t pitch, but at least I didn’t suck off a bull and get the bovine herpes like Sternfuck1. I mean, seriously, what’s wrong with that guy?”
I think we ALL hope the rays offense does something other than suck
Just because you have eternal hope and sternwhatever doesn’t, really shouldn’t be an issue for you.
Unless you have nothing going on in your life besides the Rays.
And even then it’s still not OK.
Calling this guy "not a rays fan" just because he is less optimistic as you is silly
None of what you guys say or do matters. Sorry. You don’t play for the Rays.
I just went to the game. I took the abuse of all the Sox fans in Fenway. And guess what? I’m not even sure that we’re going to make the playoffs. What, just to get knocked out by the Sox? Please.
I stick to calling him less of a Rays fan
Because he bitches about attendance yet doesn’t find a way to make it out to games himself.

Fighting with someone who attends 99% of games (you) about it just makes it worse.

Well now I’m just heartbroken.
This site is around for analysis, you didn’t seem too interested in that earlier, you may prefer sites like raysbb.com where people troll and whine constantly. Here we like to look for positives while acknowledging the negatives in a far more intelligent way than “Well we don’t matter anyways.”

That wasn't my point. That wasn't what I meant. Sorry.
Look, I do appreciate your site. See my post below to see where I’m getting at.
The other thing that pisses me off
Is that the minute someone comes here to vent frustration, they’re not a fan.
The reason I come here is because they’re aren’t any rays fans in fenway. I don’t know if you can hear it on tv but when the rays hit or get a home run, fenway is SILENT.
You gotta have a place to vent about the team. You can say we’re wrong, but we are still fans.
I think you are right
At least as far as the need for people to be accepting of all kinds of comments regarding the team. But if you are looking for a sympathetic figure to prove your point, you really bet on the wrong horse.
by GomesSweetGomes on Sep 8, 2008 11:43 PM EDT up reply actions
He does this after every game.
It’s not about being negative or not being cheery, it’s about being a troll or attention whore. He shows up in GDTs ONLY when we’re losing and won’t show his face after most wins.

pissed off plastic
Don’t feel bad or be dismayed about the paucity of Rays fans at Fenway… I live 25 miles away and I can’t get a seat in that park !
When the Rays put together a few good baseball seasons (an American League Pennant or two), they will begin to sell out the Trop (what’s the name of the new ball park ?). Once it gets diificult to get a seat for a home game at Tampa, Rays fans will be forced to travel to other stadiums to see their team play, just like Sox fans. I get much better seats, for less money at the Trop & Camden Yard.
The Rays are a good baseball team. They will be the challange for the Sox (as opposed to the Yankees) over the next several years. The fans in Tampa ought to support the Rays better… sell out the damn stadium one in a while !!
See you in October.

I'd love to with the East, but frankly the real goal is to win it all. The wild card is sufficient.
We will have Longoria back.
We have will Upton back.
We should have Crawford
We will have David Price
We will see less Miller and Hammel
We will see more Garza, Shields, and Kazmir
In other words we will be a force if we make it to October.
Maybe this will boost some spirits
We are 5 games up on the White Sox
7.5 games up on the Twins
The Rays and Sox have 20 games left. The Twins 19.
Both teams have to pass us for us to miss the wild card.
That my friends is highly highly unlikely. We would have to collapse while both teams played pretty good.
Also the Twins and White Sox have 3 games left against each other. If we go 5 and 15 the rest of the way the Twins will have to go 12-7 while the White Sox will have to go 10-10. That is just highly unlikely. Especially considering they play each other (and we aren’t going to win just 5 games).
If we go 8-12 the twins will have to go 15-5 while the White Sox will have to go 13-7. Again remember they play each other.
Barring a total collapse of epic proportions we should be okay.
Of course we play the Twins 4 more times. If we can just split we essentially guarantee a spot for ourselves. And we do have the O’s and Tigers. Not exactly powerhouses.

Remember when matthan never made sense?
Good times?
I don’t like this new and improved sense-making matthan.
And also, I agree with the jist of his post, but as unlikely as he says a collapse is, what I’ve seen of this team since the beginning of September is genuinely awfully played baseball. If they’re not playing like a collapsing team, then I don’t know what one looks like.
Not to be positive but...
Anyone else think Jackson pitched fairly well? 6 Ks and only two walks. Those two walks were to the first batter of the game (Kotsay) and the last batter he faced (youklis). From the 2nd through 7th innings he walked no one and attacked the zone consistently. I was really impressed outside of the first inning.
I think tomorrow can definitely be a win for this team. I would put Hinske in left, Zobrist in center, and Gross in right. The only right handed non switch hitter in the line-up will be JB. Maybe Gross would be a better CF than Zobrist?
Dice-K splits
K/BB verse righties – 2.0; verse lefties – 1.35
WHIP verse righties – 1.11; verse lefties – 1.56
OPSAg verse righties – .561; verse lefties – .724
I don’t know where to access any of the fancy pitching stats like FIP or tRA, but I think the trend is evident.
I do...
Jackson pitched quite well but, Lester pitched better.
The Rays need tonight’s game vs Matsuzaka, if TB loses this one its most likely a sweep for the Sox. If Boston wears down Kazmir in the early innings, its a win for the BoSox.

An entire re cap devoted to me
i’m flattered
Yes i am a fan as RJ states, but i want to win now
I’ve been around long enough to see teams who were thought to be on the brink never make it back
Seize the opportunity you have, cause NOBODY knows when it comes around again
I was a fan of the 90s Indians when i lived there, and always heard how that team was young and building. Well, they never got the ring
Let’s go Rays, FIND a WAY
by sternfan1 on Sep 9, 2008 5:50 AM EDT reply actions 1 recs
Because none of us want to win now.
So basically you are no different than the rest of us except for constant negativity and occassional dickish comments.
My Question -
The Red Sox are on a roll and the Rays are doing the big fade…. will Tampa Bay hang on to the wildcard slot ?? Will the Rays ever score again ?
The Rays have to try and salvage one game at Fenway… will Kazmir be able to best Matsuzaka tonight ? Tampa has both the Twins & the Sox (again) right around the corner, will it be the August Rays or the September Rays that take the field over the next two weeks ??
by newenglandfootballfan on Sep 9, 2008 11:29 AM EDT reply actions
We will never score again.
Never. Not this year or next or ever.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 9, 2008 11:34 AM EDT up reply actions
R,J.A.
A little sensitive about the back to back shutouts? Every now & then the Sox can’t seem to hit anything out of the infield… it is frustrating to watch.
I think tonight’s matchup favors the Rays…. if Kazmir can be efficient (big if) the Rays should prevail. Matsuzaka’s stuff is weird and can confuse the opposition but he walks people and the big inning may do him in. We shall see. If the Rays lose tonight, they’re officially in trouble. I gotta believe that Beckett will be tough to beat tomorrow night.
Keep the faith… theRays WILL win again !
by newenglandfootballfan on Sep 9, 2008 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions
No, I just thought that was a silly statement.
Being the wild card leader is not being officially in trouble.
by R.J. Anderson on Sep 9, 2008 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions
silly
You thought correctly… it was supposed to be ridiculous.
You’re right… the wild card gets the Rays in the tournament, if the Rays hold on they get to play in October. The trouble comes in with the opponent and the home field. Me.. I wouldn’t want to travel to the west coast to face the Angels. I’d rather Boston play the Twins or the White Sox.
Hey… maybe the Rays meet the Sox for the ALP. That would be a great series and home field will mean a lot !!
