Rays Unveil "New" Jersey
Not surprisingly, it looks just like the one we posted last month. Anyhow, see pics of players modeling it on The Heater.

I don't like them
Probably because I associate it with these uniforms.

Someone should photoshop the Ryu
pose from yesterday wearing the new jersey
I want one
looks a lot like the BP jerseys but still very nice.
Evan Longoria and David Price - the fight for my heart
Did Silverman minor in creative writing?
"Rays apparel, marked by our signature sunburst and light blue accents, has been embraced by fans throughout the state of Florida and across the nation," Rays President Matt Silverman said in the release. "The amplified sunburst on our new alternate jersey represents the brightness of our organization and its growing impact throughout the Tampa Bay region and central Florida."
I want a piece of Matt
Just give me 10 minutes of time with him, nothing profane or disgraceful, and we will have a classic agreement to disagree. I love the assonance and alliteration. Until they do what has been suggested not by just me but others, then I won’t buy it.
Joe
His intellect
Yes, I do….I want to know who he was targeting with that piece. Educate me. I want to be stimulated and enlightened by such a real world good man. And he is good btw.
Joe
Have you seen it?
It looks like a 2nd grader got hold of a computer and designed it.

Tilted obviously, but still horrible.
For those children who claimed they’ve been a fan of their favorite team all their life, or even since they were about four or five years old: bullshit. There’s always that certain event or certain player that draws to the sport and draws you to a team. For me, Nomar Garciaparra was that reason. - Nick Coviello: I Try To See Rocco, But All I Think Is Nomar; 1/9/09
Sigh
Silverman’s a piece of work.
I personally liked not having a thrid jersey. I hate third jersey. You have a home and a road.
Agreed
In a respectful way, I concur with your thought. There can be no denying how “bright” (no pun) Mark Fernandez and Matt Silverman are, however, they KEEP MISSING THE BOAT with the intent of fans not just myself, but others. Be classical yet contemporary. Its traditional to HONOR where you are on the road uniforms. To hide or not show where you are can lead many others to question your intentions, when I know for a fact your intentions are nothing but the best.
Do the right thing, please, Matt and Mark. Don’t sell us a CROCK of fill in the blank and do the right thing and HONOR the fans and the area where you are. Put the sunburst loud on the road uniforms if you want, but put the two words that mean the most to me back on them! TAMPA BAY!
Joe
Wouldn't it be nice if you had some sort of medium to express your opinion on?
Somewhere with a microphone, maybe from 9am-noon

Can I say how grateful I am to you?
Honestly. I am appreciative of this. If you are trying to tie this in to Ron and Ian, well, you sir, are very, very creative. I appreciate the history of the site, the greatness of the contributions of the site, and this issue is something I feel that strongly about. With due respect to you, I hope you understand.
Joe
My post was in response to Bobby
Not to you. It was about Bobby’s morning show being off the air now.
What you are talking about, I have no idea.

I want Bobby
A whole heck of a lot. And yes, he could do it better than me, so I won’t contend that. Its purgatory without him on right now.
Joe
Yes
Hearing me and not hearing Ron and Ian would be a great thing. More props for you and the site, and less of SexFest 09 is a good thing. But I can have a dream, yes?
Joe
No one wants to hear your psychotic ramblings

What's your problem?
I never said anything bad about you or anyone? What did I say wrong or that is psychotic?
Joe
I'm just saying no one wants to hear a radio show consisting of you.

Nor would I
So how do you like that? I can give myself a self-diagnosis.
Joe
Third jerseys are indeed dumb
and ugly third jerseys are dumb^2. This is a desperate marketing thing and it’s going to go over like a fart in church. I’m not buying one of those things.
Dude – I’m behind in the times and saw the changes at 1010. Where can we find you nowadays?

The Road Uni's
Ok you guys are forgetting marketing 101…
The third Jersey is to increase revenue to the club. I think it is an ok design but I am more likely to buy a Stone Crabs jersey before that one. I bought a home jersey last year because I couldnt find anywhere that sells the road jersey. I like the grey color of the road jersey better than I do the white color of the home jersey. This being a darker color might make me contemplate buying it.
As far as not having Tampa Bay on the Road Uni’s it is all part of wagging the dog with the fan base. They will wait until the outcry for this reaches a fever pitch and then they will make it look like they are catering and listening to the fans. The fans in turn will run out and buy new said road jersey as a way to support the team. Instantly they have generated more revenue and more fan loyalty because the fans felt like the team actually listened.
I also heard an interview somewhere where the question was asked about not having Tampa Bay on the Road Uni’s. During the interview with Matt Silverman, I believe, he stated that the plan was once the new design was on the uniforms that the Rays name would be on both the home and away jersy’s as a way of getting the league to stop calling them the “Devil” Rays and just start calling them the Rays. After the two year stint they will then have road uni’s that say Tampa Bay on the front like a more traditional baseball jersey.
If you notice most major league clubs do the same thing when they unveil a new logo. I actually think it is a pretty good move.
I heard the two years too
That is the tentative plan, but I would hope they make it more concrete and reinforce this intent. Bottom line is, and its not me, but out in the real world where there are fans that aren’t blogging or talking on the radio and they are disappointed by this marketing or creative decision by the club. The gray jersey is easier to clean than the home one, which makes it a no-brainer for me.
Joe
What?
in the real world where there are fans that aren’t blogging or talking on the radio
Such a place does not exist.

I meant not here where..
There are people where there are diehards. It was meant as a compliment, but I can see where it doesn’t come across that way. I am talking about those who aren’t blogging or spewing their stew on the radio.
Joe
I am suggesting
You are consummate. I can’t pay you a better compliment.
