Beckham Invited to Major League Camp

Lancaster

Last year's first overall draft pick, SS Tim Beckham, will be in major-league camp with the Rays. The invitation comes courtesy of a clause in his contract, as the soon-to-be 19-year-old (his birthday is Jan. 27) won't be due for an in-season call-up for another couple of years

I saw this last week and forgot to post it. Just think of all the talent we will have in this year camp.

Dont do it

He gets a nickname when he gets it figured out some.

Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.

No real harm here

Hopefully it provides him with motivation to work hard to get another invite next year or a couple years from now. I’d probably rather he be in minor league camp so they have him working on fundamentals, but he can go to minor league camp and possibly EST a few weeks later.

Beckham will start in Low A, that's pretty much a sure thing

You think they call him up to high A if he is doing well? I did read that he will move through the minors faster than most HS players.
