Dont think it should have been retired in the first place
But I think it would set a bad precedent to un-retire it.
This may sound dumb
but enlighten me, who wore it?

Anyone who makes out with home plate should not have hit number retired in the first place
I had to cover my kid’s eyes during that event of PDA
Unfortunately
Unfortunately it would just be perceived as a slap to Boggs’ face. What we need is for Boggs to show up in a steroid report. Quick, get Canseco on the phone. He owes the Rays a favor or a few million

Unretire it
Sign Burrell and give him #12, maybe it will make him feel honored for some reason.

c'mon Andrew--make a deal
so far we’ve discussed Boggs’ old number and months MLB players were born
It should absolutely be unretired.
The fact that it was retired in the first place is a complete joke, and a lasting testament to the ineptitude of Vince Naimoli. The team had no history, so instead of letting the team build its own identity he tried to create history by retiring Boggs’ number. Boggs did next to nothing as a Devil Ray. Aubrey Huff is more deserving of having his number retired by the Rays than Boggs, and that is just plain sad when you think about it.
It should be done quietly. Just take it down during the offseason and never mention it again. I would bet that most fans wouldn’t even realize it because most fans probably don’t realize it was retired in the first place.
But the fact that they were so inept they were willing to retire his jersey is part of our history
Like it or not. I think it was a dumb decision at the time, but should stand as a reminder of how far we’ve come once we start really retiring jerseys.

I think the AL Championship banner willbe allthe reminder we'll need of how far they've come.
Maybe they can just permanently hang it on top of the retired #12. That would solve the problem.
