Todd Greene!
Marc Topkin's notes column, two items that jumped out:
Longtime big-league C Todd Greene is in line to be the new quality assurance coach, replacing Tim Bogar...Latest is a mention in Robin Leach's lasvegasweekly.com blog that last week "Longoria took Hugh Hefner's VIP table at the Playboy Club with his eight friends.
This trend of somewhat obscure former major league players being the QA coach will never cease to be amusing to me. The Rays are going to be feeding the rest of the league future coaches through this position for years to come it seems. Oh, and remember this?
Any man who can survive Prince Fielder running over them earns my respect.

I was watching that game
The best part is that Greene actually held on to the ball long enough that it should’ve been called an out, but the ball trickled out of his glove after a second or so because he had a mild concussion and a broken jaw through his catchers mask

Juuuust a bit outside!!

When Greene caught that ball Prince was ~1/2 way down the line.

I didn't remember that.
Wow. Todd Greene has grit.
I’m shocked Matheny isn’t a bench coach or something, considering his rep.

Todd Greene went to my alma mater
Georgia Southern, his number is retired and he has just about every hitting record in the book for GSU baseball. Led us all the way to the College World Series along with Joey Hamilton in 1990.
I wonder if Longoria's name had anything to do with it
and also of course because he is a beast
You clearly missed the most important piece of St. Pete Times article. Here, let me help:
INF Ben Zobrist’s wife, Julianna, released her debut Christian alternative CD, The Tree. (Listen at rays.tampabay.com; buy soon at iTunes and cdbaby.com for $10, or e-mail julianna zobristmusic@gmail.com.)
Well actually, just Julianna is important. I have little interest in her music.
I am not against Zobrist changing the name on the back of his jersey to “Hey Evan, my wife is still hotter than those whores you’re picking up off the street.”

Whoever has to fit all that onto a jersey will have a fun time.
But rec’d anyways.
"And you just don't get it, you keep it copacetic..."
Greene was a hell of a hitter in the minors when he was healthy
.301 career hitter in the minors
tore up the Cali league in 1994 when he hit .302 with 35 HRs and 124 RBI and even threw in 10 steals
