Here we mock dumb people:
I'll start:
Wow - he was "outstanding" with Philly last year and he's "still a very good rightfielder" (laughing my butt off over that last quote). - Jimbo, Jimbo, Jimbo - before you walk into your next game, you may want to invest in one of those magazine thingy's in which they call a Gameday Program.
This is a solid signing for the Rays, definitly proof that they ARE trying to win in 2009 but Burrell is surely NOT the right handed power bat we need. Before you ladies fly off the handle in asking why; How about you take into account his 158 K's per 162 games and his below .200 career BA against the American League.
The Rays are hoping and praying this works out, as well as us fans but in reality, this guy will probably struggle to hit .220 for much of the 2009 season.
Look at this dummy.

HEY BRANDEEN
LOOK AT THAT POINTY HEADED GIRL
Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.

Even if Burrell does sturggle like he said
with lots of Ks, doesnt hit as well when not playing the field, bats around .220 most of the year this deal for 2/16 is so not risky that it still will be seen as not very damanging at all and a good attempt considering what we need and what we know right now…How does that chart go? Good process + bad results = bad luck???
Even for our team, a 16 mil deal that blows up in our face wouldnt destroy us $$$-wise. And a DH who bats 6th isnt the hardest replacement to find cough cough Aybar
It’s a great signing no matter how you look at it.

another comment from SI.com
If Burrell had wanted to DH he would’ve done so for the 2 WS games in Tampa. I hope for the Rays sake he transitions OK.
As for Ibanez, He’ll be fine. I’ve seen him play here in Seattle for the past few seasons and he’s a far better defensive outfielder the Burrell. The difference in production between the two will be made up by Ibanez defense.
Having said that, I’ll miss The Bat and wish him well.
