Aw we love you too, Cliff
But I seriously doubt we will bring you back
The signing of Pat Burrell seemed to close the door on Cliff Floyd's return to Tampa Bay. But Floyd's agents, Seth and Sam Levinson, continue to speak with the Rays about finding a role for Floyd, who served as Tampa Bay's primary lefthanded DH last year. Floyd has told friends that returning to the Rays is still his first choice.
I am sure Rocco wants back also but
Dejan Kovacevic talked to a source directly involved in the Rocco Baldelli negotiations who believes the field may be down to the Pirates and two AL teams at this point. The Rays and Reds seem less likely to sign Baldelli given their recent signings. I imagine the Red Sox are one of the remaining AL clubs.
It's obvious Gomes would want back also, now its Hinske's turn to beg for his job back.

And Miller wanted to stay also
Must be a fun clubhouse.

It's funny how nobody wants to leave once you're winning
How’s the weather up there, Aubrey? Delmon?

Unless floyd returns to the form of 1997
In which case he could replace Gabe Gross, but there is no spot for him on the line up. We have Burrell at DH. I hate to say there is not spot, because I loved what Cliff did for the team during the season.

Well, I think we will have 5 OF/DH players
LF Crawford
CF Upton
RF Joyce
DH Burrell
Bench: Nando
I hope that’s how it goes anyway.

I fully believe that Gross will make the squad out of Spring Training
with exception to a hell of a spring training by Perez or a stink job by Gross. That being said though I think it would be more advantageous to have Fernando, in terms of speed on OF range. Can imagine if Fernando was playing in the field when Garza was throwing his no-hitter in Texas, rather then Ruggiano?
I think Joyce might spend a half a year “seasoning” in Durham while the Rays look for a trade partner for Gross.

If Joyce is in AAA, then we will have Gross in the majors
but I really hope we let Joyce play in the majors out of Spring.

its too bad Joyce's last month in the majors was his worst
How about his July though? .321 BA, slugged over 600 with 5 HR. He had another 5 home run month in May too, but batted low .200’s.

I saw that too.
But, remember a lot of times when guys come into the majors, they do have a full scouting report on them. So, pitchers do not know how to pitch to the young players, so hence the player will get more hittable balls.
The issue I have read on a few websites with Joyce is he was having trouble with the change-up. So I think the dive you saw near the end can be attributed to pitchers throwing more off speed stuff to Joyce.

Good thing the Rays FO will ignore monthly splits.
