Rays Claim Dewon Day
Off waivers from Boston, added to the 40-man roster per Marc Topkin.
Day is a strikeout and groundball heavy reliever who split 2008 between the "Sox" organizations. Day relies on his fastball/slider and throws right-handed. The Rays continue their assault on the Charlotte Knights roster, as Day makes the third pitcher from the Knights to be added, joining Derek Rodriguez and Jason Childers.

Been reading some scouting reports
and this is what Ive determined. He throws a low-mid 90’s fastball (avg 91.7) and a mid 80’s slider. His fastball has good late movement, but he has no control over it. His slider is his out pitch and is apparently very good. He has much better control over this pitch, which leads to hitters sitting on the slider when he is behind in the count. Also has a mehh curveball. Limits the home run ball well and is a strike out pitcher. Fastball control is his biggest enemy. Grant Balfour version 2.0?

Both strike out a lot of guys, but Balfour is a fly ball pitcher
Day is over 55% GB in his minor league career. So hopefully, Balfour’s K with 55% GB.
