You snooze you lose. In response to kericr's suggestion during the inaugural edition of FreeZo Friday that 25+% of my writing was Zobrist specific, I decided to go back and see how my work truly was divided up in 2009. First the article breakdown of by column type. The second chart is a breakdown of the player specific catagory.
So 4 of 94 posts were Zobrist specific or 4.3%

Zobrist is a super utility. Like he will end up with 500+ ABs. Joyce will play 25% of the time vs lefties where Benzo takes the rest. Benzo also spells the rest of the positions to get maybe 4 or 5 starts a week.
I wouldn’t be shocked if we keep Zobrist in this role for a couple years.
I’m most curious as to what we do with Jennings, Crawford, and Upton. Someone has to go…

As big of a Zobrist guy as I have become He is better in the role he currently has. Play 3-4 times a week, move around the diamond and smash a few home runs. Rinse, repeat.

I know this isn’t meant to be a dig on PtB but come on, 2008-2009 as the only data is skewed regardless as it completley disregards Pat’s career (and consistency in all departments) before. I don’t mean to sound critical, but this is a pretty blatant cherry picking of stats as the number of plate appearances didn’t seem to make it onto the comparisons.
298 PA for Zobrist vs. 767 for PtB… That doesn’t even factor in the other 4800 plate appearances of far above average offensive baseball from PtB, and given the fact that the deal is made, I fail to see the point of this post.
And until you mentioned price I would rather have had Player 2. Point is it seems like an indictment of the signing (a backhanded, light slap of an indictment, but an indictment nevertheless) of Burrell, and I know you know that the Zobrist explosion was unexpected on every level.
Given track records of both players I still would rather have Burrell to tell you the truth… I just don’t think Zobrist, given everyday playing time, can maintain the level of production needed to match Burrell.

I think he’s going to be pretty awful at 2B, regardless. But, that’s okay – I think we’ll accept a .500+ slugging percentage for shitty defense. The more interesting scenario to me next year is the outfield. I could easily see Crawford being dealt, with Zobrist taking over LF, letting Brignac/Aybar take over at 2B.

I found them doing it to be rather silly.
They only blocked the recruiting and staffing agents at the satellite offices. I’d regularly get calls at support with people asking me why they couldn’t call so-and-so, so I had to tell them that they’d need to speak to their manager to call someone out of their zip code.

I grew up a CFB and MLB, and I grew to like the NFL as the area got swept up after the Bucs got good. I just don’t really care enough about any teams. Especially the way the Bucs were run the 5 years or so.

We inherited season tix for the Gators for a few years when i was in MS, but we passed them on when I got to HS because we didn’t have time to go to games.
I just think the NFL is such a local thing. Like once I moved away from FL my interest level dropped a ton. I gradually stopped even watching the games unless they were on. I went to bars to watch like every game at first, but I slowly stopped. If I moved back to the area, then I might care more. I doubt it though.

Various retail suit chains have good sport coats that you can find for cheap if you put the time in to look.
