10/20 Kazmir Fail

So it's come down to this. The reason the Angels wanted Scott Kazmir is so that he could give them some extra oomph in the postseason. Watching tonight's game, I had some major nostalgia about Kaz's long journey back from the DL for the Rays this season.

It's safe to say that this series is well over at this point. I can't envision any way the Yankees won't win it all in the WS. They're just too good.

Tonight's game was really tough to watch. Kaz walked a bunch of batters. He gave up a homerun, several base hits, and a bunch of the outs were hard-hit line drives and fly balls. When he got pulled after five innings, the camera showed him throwing his glove down in the locker room corridor, frustrated and helpless.

I was wondering what peoples' reaction to this game is. This was undoubtedly the biggest game of the Angels' entire season. Hell, because the Angels may be the only team that can beat the Yankees -- this may have been the defining game of the entire AL season. And Scott Kazmir was there, right at the heart of it. Out of our small-market town, and plunged into the heart of a major media market. Booed by fans who held red clappers, not cowbells. Booed by those who hadn't really paid attention to his early-season fireworks this year. Booed by those who hadn't supported him over the years, like we have.

I feel sad for him, and sad for the Rays as well.

I don't know who I'd root for if this ends up happening

I think it may be the Yanks, though, because I couldn’t stand to see the Phillies win it all again.

And I agree...this was a tough one

I can’t help but miss Kazmir and wish him well, so seeing all that was pretty rough.

This is what new Kazmir gives teams. He'll be good sometimes, he'll be bad sometimes.

I didn’t feel bad for him, I felt indifferent; I also felt a little smug satisfaction due to a couple of Angels fans I overheard saying how much they ripped off the Rays in that trade, while I knew otherwise.

I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

Yep.

I thought it was particularly irritating that they had Ken Rosenthal chime in — in the bottom of the third inning — just to make that point: that his inconsistency is why we felt the need to trade him.

But I agree, I think last night was one example of why we didn’t get ripped off at all.

Doesn't have to be

Didn’t feel like starting one as I usually start it at the same time someone else does.

As long as we all pretend to post like its August and not October, I'm down with it.

I really think Byron Leftwich is going to work out for this team. I could see us beating Buffalo and maybe the Redskins.
