My favorite quote: "He was hands-down the best player I've seen all summer, no doubt about it," an American League scout said. He showed me 70 range and he was running balls down everywhere—left field, right field. You just need one outfielder, almost." Does anyone else suspect this kid will end up being a WAR machine?
He also was rated the #3 prospect in the Southern League (which BA said was the strongest league in terms of prospects this year). Hellickson was rated #9.

And FWIW
- ain’t bad here. #1 was Jason Heyward, the consensus top prospect in baseball at the moment. #2 was Gordon Beckham, possible rookie of the year. He was still ahead of Mike Stanton, who’s a top 10 prospect.
His report mentioned that he’s worked on his arm, and it now rates as average instead of below average.

Also, no Rays in the FSL top 20
Alex Cobb and Shawn O’Malley got consideration, but didn’t make it. Cobb was said to have a good changeup and a solid breaking ball, but his 90 mph fastball velocity isn’t flashy enough to make him more than a solid pitcher. O’Malley wasn’t close to making the top 20, and they basically said he was a gritty type player who doesn’t have the range to play short in the majors, despite his speed, but that he positions himself very well.

Davis, Hellickson and Brignac
Were ranked #5, 6 and 10, respetively, in the International League. The writeup mentioned that Jennings would have likely ranked #3 (behind Weiters and Hanson) had he qualified. Brignac rated as the top defensive SS in the IL.
